Have you noticed that every year he gets in the octogon and gives his "special announcement" about the next coaches of TUF in front of the crowd? Not this time. It was played down at ring side with Joe Rogan and you could tell Dana even thought it was lame. BTW, I don't like Dana White if you did'nt notice.
This match up disgusts me. They are going to create beef between chuck and ortiz when chuck is clearly a superior fighter and has proven it twice. what the **** does anyone care who wins when they are old. ali - frazier 4 anyone. frazier could even the score. does this intrigue you!
I want to see it. It's a crossroads fight where there are questions about how much each one has declined and there is a natural rivalry between the two.
there aren't really many questions. chuck's sharpness and punch resistance has gone. he should retire or be put in gimmick fights if he wants to continue. tito is on his way out but has something left. he should be allowed one last run, including the trilogy with forrest.
My questions is, why would he make this match-up with Chuck and Tito? It's not like he doesn't have other choices. Did he actually think it was going to excite people?
If 2 legends wanna fight each other why cant they ? Lay off it id rather see Tito and Chuck fight each other then them getting creamed by the elite fighters especially Liddell hes one more KO away from a retirement home.
I don't think this matchup is as bad as many of you think. Not because Chuck or Tito are not shot, but because both fighters abilities are deteriorated. Tito's been saying a lot about how his shot is better, it looks the same to me.. Chuck, well his reaction time is slower, he doesn't have the same vision or anticipation as he had before, and he gets caught with punches now.. The thing with Chuck that I worry about is when he's in with a dangerous striker.. Chuck, still carries huge power, power is the last thing to go.. So, its going to be one of those fights that plays right into Chucks hands AGAIN. The only thing Tito can do, still, is try to take Chuck down and maul him.. Tito has worked on his submissions, so the pressure is s till on Tito.. Not much has really changed in the sort of way this fight will play out, at least on paper.
I would have rather watch wanderlei silva vs tito ortiz 2. I think that would have been a better fight. Chuck is 2-0 vs ortiz already. Chuck vs his student would have been better. Chuck vs Forrest griffin.
I didn't think that it was groundbreaking... but I think that it's cool. I don't see a huge problem with Liddell vs Ortiz III, and I don't see why two experienced legends can't be TUF coaches for the next series either.
I have no prob with this either, it's perfect having 2 guys who arn't going to hold up a belt and arn't in contention anymore to waste time for TUF. The show is getting stale and having Tito and Chuck will make it somewhat interesting. As long as the fight isn't a main event like Couture-Coleman I have no prob with that either, It would be nice to see Chuck beat Tito 1 more time if he can.
They did already do one without any coaches, the comeback one that Serra and Lutter won, so it's not like the show needs to be a buildup to a great fight. Hughes and Franklin were never going to fight when they coached Tito vs Shamrock was not a particuarly meaningful fight. One positive is that it won't hold up any belts. I think the main reason is that Dana was so pissed about getting burned by Rampage, and the Serra vs Hughes hold up, although that was different. With this fight he knows that even if the fight doesn't go off, it doesn't really hurt anything.
exactly, it will be fun to watch these guys go at it all season long, and the fact that these arent title holders or contenders that are gonna be caught up in this for the next 8 months putting a division on hold
What happens if Ortiz wins? Would these two then duke it out for a fourth time? And if Ortiz were to win again would that mean we'd have a "Decider" on our hands??? Of course, I don't think Tito beats Chuck (Unless he fights the Chuck I saw on some site absolutely wasted, then Tito has a shout) but all I am doing is pointing out the absolute futility of this fight. It means **** all and it proves **** all! Hopefully the UFC will put this on a "Free" show so people wont have to pay to watch it. I tell you what I did find interesting, the fact that Tito is supposed to have signed a four fight deal!!
