dana white did this on purpose. he wants a big hyped rematch with big pay per view numbers, it's all business. i bet he told the judges to score it for machida if the fight is very close or if rua is winning.

i thought the same thing... we could see how this sets up a rematch and will certainly draw more interest since the decision was considered "controversial"

The fight was no where near close. I had Shogun 4-1 up and that's being kind to Machida

yeah it makes all sense, he wants big money, and thats where he will get big money. and so he can start his big big hype machine again. especially right now there aren't big fights out there in the ufc

And exactly how do u sell a rematch and expect nig PPV numbers. The fight wasnt exciting. I thought the decision sucked but no rematch is doing big PPV numbers.

it's quite easy, the 'so perfect' machida, who was invincible had a tough match with the great fighter rua. now people who didn't see the fight read, that rua won and it was a very competitve fight but he was screwed, who is the real ufc light heavyweight champion? there will be a show about that, who won, how was the judging and scoring, and how rua managed to be that competitve, people will get interessted, and so the hype will start.
3 weeks before the fight they will make a show, like how is machida training for this fight and how is rua training for this fight. then ask rua how he felt about the decision and ask him, how he will convince the judges this time to score the fight for him.
here you have a big interest from the public, two good fighters and big hype
=>big pay per view numbers and a lot of money for dana white

Agreed but didn't think the decision sucked per say, but I did have Shogun up by a round.

I was surprised they didn't give it to Rua, would have thought Dana would want Anderson Silva to actually have a light heavyweight title shot which is a lot more likely with Shogun.

You guys are acting like Dana can't put on a top tier fight unless it's a shogun-machida rematch...

If you think Dana fixed the fight.. youre mentally ******ed.

If he was gonna risk the business and fix a fight.. it wouldnt be for Lyoto freakin Machida.

So if this PPV does 400,000 buys u think a rematch will do more? Casual fans aint interested in watching a chess match let alone two non english speaking guys in a chess match. I wanna see the fight again and im sure it will but am no way convinced the UFC want to do another match ASAP. For me alot depends on how many buys this PPV got.
