This is wholly dependant on your definition of whats brought to your TV set. Obviously there was MMA before the UFC and there will be MMA after the UFC. The UFC is just one promotion. Its NOT the sport of MMA. If you want to talk about the individual success of the UFC then fair enough. But dont act like there the flagship organisation with MMA's best interest at hearts because thats pure bull****. Dana is businessman and a promoter nothing more or less.

I can't even make it through all your nuttloving gibberish.

Dana ISN"T good for MMA he is good for UFC. How can someone be good for something when he clearly and openly says he is out to crush ALL other MMA promotions? Since when is a monopoly good for ANYTHING?

As for not being legal in NY I am NOT blaming Dana for it I was pointing out that MMA isn't as big as you nutsqueezers think it is. How can a sport be so huge and not be legal in NY is my point. Damn you people just don't get it do you.

The problem I have with those shows is that they showcase the 2nd tier fighters. Its analogous to me not having any interest to watch minor league baseball. I want to see the best as much as possible.

Now for the purist, theyd argue that its about the game and the love of it. But frankly, if I love the game that much, id rather play roller street hockey myself than wacth the American Hockey league games.

But I respect those who follow other orgs. thats some dedication right there.

There was a time when the best fighters were not in the UFC. Furthermore those same small organisations can also potentially become big world wide organisations the same as the UFC and PRIDE were/are.

Pretty much every notable org has worked together for the betterment of MMA. The UFC have been completely against this because of Dana and his dictator-like control over the company. Even PRIDE at its height allowed a UFC fighter in its tourny. The same cant be said of Dana because he simply doesnt care.

Intentions mean nothing, and I am not saying their intentions are do anything but make money for Zuffa.

But if you think it is simply coincidence that MMA as a sports has gotten more popular than ever before slightly after the UFC got really popular, well then I can't help you.

UFC is the industry leader, and had it never existed the industry would be nowhere near as big as it is today.

This is how capitalism works; by doing what was best for himself and his company, the rest of the market was helped by Dana, because the success of the UFC showed that money can be made in MMA, real money.

Companies exist to make money and nothing else.

Occasionally other orgs worked together because they had to to make more money for themselves.

You need to put a little more time into reading before you type.

What I said was without the UFC, MMA would never have been as big.

What I did not say was MMA never was bigoutside the UFC.

Since you don't seem to understand the difference in those two statements, let me clarify.

The big pride events all took place after the UFC, they were, in many ways, dependent on the UFC having blazed the trail of taking MMA forward to have those big shows that they did.

Obviously RINGS and SHOOTO were huge influences as well, but why do you think that RINGS, Pancrase and SHOOTO, pre UFC and around the very early UFCs were never anywhere near as Pride, which was started when the UFC was already established?

If MMA would have been exactly the same size and popularity without the ufc, Rings and Shooto would have been huge on their own. How big were they? That is my point.

MMA would be a live and healthy sport, but their would be no millionaire fighters.

No, I just showed that capitalism works.

The entire world is based on enlightened self-interest. Everybody does what is best for them, every company exists to make money, this is why the world works, this is why Cuba and North Korea aren't world leaders in technology.

Companies making money is what makes MMA work, without it MMA would be amateur wrestling or Judo; good sports but small peanuts.

Those companies being forced to copromote was out of money rather than some noble intentions, but it just shows that the quest for money works and produces results.

No **** genius, Thats what everyone has been saying about Dana for years and you have been arguing it that he is this almighty great leader in MMA, dude get it in your head he DID NOT do anything he has done "for MMA" he did it to line his pockets! Thats the crux of the whole deal about Dana THATS what everyone argues. That is what you call "being good for MMA"

Did MMA benefit? Yes. That is all that matters, not why anybody does anything.

The fact that he did it to make money just shows that capitalism works; nobody is altruistic, and even if they were nobody is good at it.

So the more people who are trying to make money, the better MMA is, because only those who are good at what they do will make money. Only those who are good at making money will continue to exist.

As such, only those that make money can help MMA in the long run, because they are the only ones that won't go broke. It is good for MMA to be bigger, making money makes it bigger.

Interesting. You clearly love the virtues of capitalism but somehow that selfish singleminded approach is beneficial to the sport of MMA.

Take away capitalists and you end up with Shooto basically. A well run sport, but with no money for the fighters.

If the interests of Dana White and MMA fans are aligned it's stupid to be angry at Dana White for persuing the interests of the fans.

The guy doesn't run a charity and neither do any of the other major MMA promoters. Why isn't it enough to be happy that he puts on good fights and the most cards of any promotion every year? Why does he have to be all saintly about it?

I admit that I like Dana because of his results and I frankly don't care TOO much about his personality. If the guy puts on a good show (sure, many people might not like the production aspects of the UFC, but honestly that **** doesn't bother me. I am a fight fan, not a ring entrances and fireworks and national anthems fan.) than let him put on a good show and be happy about it.
