Dana White is a good guy, so doesnt want his fighters getting rich.

    “All I have seen for the past 3 days is that Prince Fielder is making $214 million dollars over the next 9 years. That sounds awesome right? Everybody would love to be Prince Fielder. (Expletive) no, you don’t want to be Prince Fielder over the next three years.

    His whole life is going to change. He thought it was bad before with the (expletive) he had going on in his life? Everybody and their mother is coming after that 214. Believe me when I tell you. Mark my words, Prince Fielder talk to me in five years and tell me what it was like when the news put out there that you were making $214 million dollars. I’m not going to do that to my guys.”

    Sounds more like he's talking about the nondisclosure of the real pay of the top fighters. Of course, nobody is ever going to make that kind of money in the UFC.

    Without fighters knowing what each other gets, they cant demand more and cant demand what they rightfully deserve. YOU KNOW THAT.

    Figures posted here recently state the UFC has made 29 of it's fighters millionaires. A million dollars doesn't buy what it used to. But I doubt having a lazy mill tucked away is doing those guys any harm, and the fighters who don't have one tucked away obviously want one.

    Not too bad, considering the company only became profitable five or six years ago and was a money pit before then.

    Meanwhile, Dana White, the president and public face of the company only gets 5 million a year. Top tier fighters could potentially be getting 2-3 times that.

    I'll put my hand up and say I'm someone who thinks Dana White does an excellent job. But having said that, it does seem hypocritical of him suggesting the hardships fighters might endure earning more money when he himself earns multiples of what most of them receive.

    He was quite obviously talking about the hardships of disclosing fighter pay.
    But he's the president of a company, what company in the world has a president who doesn't earn many times what the employees earn.

    Compare it to the movie industry, what do you suppose the president of Viacom earns each year when compared to a few of the lower level actors in some of their films?

    I think a good example of not wanting fighters to make too much money is PBF. He doesn't fight because he's a warrior or cares about the sport or fans or even his legacy. He cares about making the max amount of money fighting the least resistant opponent.

    Do you think Dana would alow him and Pac to not fight? Somebody would be cut! I'm glad fighters have been making more money lately, with success of the company the fighters should also wet their beaks also.

    With Floyd making 20mill+ per fight that is great for him because he's made it to the top and if he can get it good for him. but it realy doesn't do the sport any good. When's the last time you seen a stacked boxing card? It rarely happens because all the money goes to the main event fighters.

    That's a huge difference between boxing cards and UFC cards, because you can't always depend on 1 fight to deliver.

    Just give me great fights. I don't really care about what promoters and fighters are making. I think it's absurd for fans to make a big deal out of it. I've seen Anderson Silva's house. My entire living space is as big as his bathroom. He is doing just fine.

    has it made them millionaires, or paid them a million? Big difference in a combat sport where you have corners that eat into your pay substantially.
