This according to Gary Shaw in regards to Dana White cutting Kimbo Slice. I think the UFC should of gave him one more fight before cutting him. The guy is marketable and can put butts in seats.

he was given more of a chance than maybe he deserved, showed no significant improvement.

his last opponent was laughing the whole fight based on how easy it was.

Loyalty.... he still punishes Nonito for being "disloyal"

I've said it before.... get him in the boxing ring.. heavyweight freakshows...
Kimbo vs. Shannon Briggs ... etc etc

While Dana may have a big ego, calling him "unloyal" in this case isn't warranted.

Dana was NEVER a fan of Kimbo as a fighter and said as much when Kimbo was being fed fighters in the EliteXC. Kimbo only faced guys that the EliteXC knew he could beat. They gave him a HUGE fighter so it would look good, but the guy has a weak chin, so they knew Kimbo could beat him and he barely squeaked out a weak win on Thompson. Then Kimbo gets KO'd by a last minute replacement by a lucky punch and sinks both his career and the EliteXC.

Kimbo is then given a chance to be on the UF and earn his way to a contract and wasn't able to make it through the other fighters. He is then STILL given a contract to try and prove himself and goes 1-1 with a lackluster victory and a horrible defeat.

If you are trying to claim you have the best fighters on the planet, why would you keep him around?

Dana talked crap about Kimbo when he was in EliteXC. XC folds and Kimbo gets a contract with the UFC.

Gary Shaw is exposing a true boxing promoter. He is saying he would put him in winnable fights en route to a big pay day for himself.

The UFC instead put Kimbo in 2 close fights which exposed that he isnt ever going to break into the higher class.

This. It even confirmed exactly what dana has been saying all along that these guys don't give a damn about MMA as a sport. It's just business to them. Props to Dana for helping to make this sport legit. You have to be the best to fight in the UFC period. I still miss pride though.

Dana White is loyal to money. That's about it. Kimbo made him a shitload of money drawing peak audiences for his TUF show and a couple of UFC cards. Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg were forced to call him a "respected MMA fighter" and "legendary" to help promote him. They flatout lied calling his victory over Houston Alexander "impressive" leading up to his last fight. After Kimbo lost to Meathead though Dana had to cut him as he couldn't pass him off as a credible fighter anymore and could no longer use him to milk fans into paying to see him

Kimbo is past his prime (if he even had one in the first place) and looks to be older than his stated age of thirty-eight. He looked wholefully inept against Mitrione and even his once vaunted stand-up seemed to have lost all of its steam. He seems like a humble, decent guy but his knees are shot and his body seems to be breaking down rapidly. Dana White did the right thing by his promotion and I'm sure Kimbo made some nice money while with the UFC.
