A ESPN interview with Dana where he talks about James Toney doing MMA, and boxers in general. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhhxK5guJok[/ame]
He makes a lot of valid points about the boxing business and it's easy to tell that he's a fight fan, first and foremost. However, I still can't bear to watch the freakshow that is MMA.
Boxers are chasing mma for a reason(Money). Once you are no longer a draw(Popular, meal ticked) boxing doesn't care about you. The behind the scenes boxing business is notorious and he never wants UFC to go in that direction The money is spread out fairly in UFC while only the big draws make real money in boxing. James Toney needs to get in shape if he wants to go in UFC. Zab Judah was present and he is friends with Zab. The boxing stance won't work in UFC because you will get your front leg kicked into the 8th row.
Sorry? Are you saying there's money to be made in MMA for more than 1-2 guys? Only Brock Lesnar and GSP make more than $1 million and of that, they get a FAR lower PPV percentage than any boxing star gets. WEC champ Mike Brown (WEC is owned by Zuffa, parent company of UFC) got $8,000 for his last CHAMPIONSHIP fight. Most top contenders in UFC make the same as top contenders in boxing, $100,000 to $300,000. NO MORE. There are tons of poor/underpaid UFC fighters. Many UFC fighters get $3,000 to fight, $3000 to win if they're new.
Dana White speaks some sense but come on man he is talking as if his an angel. Plenty of guys would say the UFC treated them like ****. Is the money in the UFC spread fairly? Thats very debatable.
This is pure garbage. Heres UFC 108 salaries.. Il let posters draw their own conclusions. hmm says . . . awesome find... i knew those cats weren't making that much like boxing... shiet Tito thought about leaving UFC cause Dana/ the organization was bogarting the money... Tito also said boxers make more than MMA.
just an fyi, these are the numbers that are released to the commission, they are making more than is being released. when the ufc and randy couture had their little fued, the salary released after ufc 74 said couture made $250k, but the ufc showed check stubs and what not showing randy made over 1mil for that fight, so these numbers arent completely accurate
