Why wouldn't Pac do well in MMA?

Most MMA fights take place with two men groping eachother on the fence and they stay like that for about 3 minutes until the ref breaks them up or they tumble to the ground.

Where is the extreme skill in that? Where is the skill in holding another man against a fence?

To me that's equivelent to, "Oh ****, he's gonna hit me, better wrap up as soon as possible to avoid being hit at all costs."

Thing is, that's the mentality of almost every MMA fighter because most of them are wrestlers with very little boxing ability.

The one guy that does use boxing, out of a real boxing stance, Anderson Silva manages to use movement to avoid guys that are scared of getting hit, and easily beating these guys.

And in the boxing ring, Anderson is mediocre. So, how could Dana White know how Mayweather or Pac would perform?

Have you seen Dana White box? I have. And honestly, what the hell does he know about boxing?

There are tons of amateur boxers, but that doesn't mean most of them know anything about boxing.

You know how many bad coaches there are out there that don't know **** about the sport?

Seriously? This is why this debate goes on. Someone says some ignorant **** like this, MMA Fans get butt hurt. Then the MMA fan says something ignorant, boxing fans get butthurt, and round and round we go.

    Stop debasing other sports.

Yes, but MMA as an entity in itself is tiny compared to boxing at the moment. People are still overwhelmingly coming into MMA with one particular background and then trying to fill in the gaps. Until the majority of MMA combatants actually train in MMA from day 1 (i.e. beginning as a young child), the talent pool will always be somewhat weaker than boxing.

An analogy for boxers would be people who train in just punching, or just defending, and then 10 or 15 years later deciding to branch out and learning the rest of boxing's techniques.

Many specific martial arts techniques, stances etc are ideal in isolation, but under MMA rule the number of additional types of attack which you need to be able to defend will often change how and when you can apply those techniques. Stances are a particularly pertinent example, in martial arts without striking, the natural stances & weight distribution are often poor when strikes are taken into consideration (e.g. a textbook boxers stance will be vulnerable to kicks to the lead leg and take downs).

I just see it as a problem that fighters have to change their style & adapt to compete in MMA. If combatants were training for MMA and MMA only from day one then things would improve much more quickly and we would see many more fighters like Fedor who seem to be able to do everything well enough to find a way to beat any fighter who is too specialised.
