He's right though. The UFC plans on having extra time by taping earlier fights and playing them if necessary. The UFC puts on a much better show I feel then HBO. But I disagree with it being a "bad night for Boxing". I think it was a great night for Boxing. And may lead to one of the biggest fights in our lifetime - Pac vs Floyd.

It's Anderson Silva's BJJ that would give him an advantage over boxers, not his stand up. If Silva tried to boxed professionally, which he has and it wasn't pretty, he'd get destroyed. There is a reason why Dana wouldn't let him anywhere near a ring, even against a shot RJJ. Styles make fights. You're over here pumping up Brock "no skills" Lesnar, and in the same breath preaching about Muay Thai. Muay Thai elbows and knees in the clinch are effective if you can get that close to someone and hold them there but throwing kicks makes you vulnerable to being taken down in a way that boxing does not. The fist striking in Muay Thai is more of an afterthought and not even in the same league as boxing, and just basic footwork and defensive posturing is just a completely different animal. If that's you're argument, then you should be talking about and pumping up kickboxing or K-1, not UFC where boxing and keeping distance moving in and out and potshotting while only throwing quick low kicks to slow your opponent down and prevent from putting yourself in a bad position is more effective and what most of their top fighters are beginning to do. I have yet to see any really special strikers though. The footwork, speed, and endurance is just not at that level yet. Anthony Johnson showed some flashes of good boxing and speed but is far from a polished, complete fighter. But this is to where the sport will evolve. Look at recent matches like KenFlo vs Huerta or Penn vs Sherk.

i actually think hes got a point for once.... i commented on the production during the fight, i think Boxing would benefit from someone like white.

Dont dumb it down so much like UFC, but make it a little more watchable to those who tune in to see what its all about.

    IMO

he was right about the undercard though. ppvs need better undercards. not a showcase of young talents over no hopers. i boxing could copy one thing from ufc, it would be that the people get the best matches. lesnar-couture, penn-st pierre, silva-jackson, hendo-franlin. that's what boxing needs. not margarito saying no to a fight with paul williams and flip-flopping on a fight with mosley.

though most of yall would just say **** dana white, what he said actually made a lot of sense. pac wont draw the same number odlh did. and looking at the list of active fighters, the hope is really dim. the top 4 p4p fighters are all in the twilight of their careers.

drastic changes need to be made and made fast for boxing to survive, it;s funny how calzaghe and dana white say almost the same thing and dana gets crucified

I've thought to myself that if there's anything boxing could take from UFC, it's a couple lessons in marketing/promotion to try and make the sport more accessible to more people. A few tweaks here or there could go a long way. I've always wondered why you never see boxing matches on DVD here in the US. Besides the internet guys (who are a friggin' blessing for hardcore fans), it's impossible for the average Joe to go rent the classic fights that get more newcomers into the sport, whereas you can go to Blockbuster and get any one of a dozen UFC dvd's. Better to spend $4 on a classic to give them a taste of how good boxing can be than to have them accidently burn $40 on a bad PPV, and scar them for life.

I know it boils down to rights (both of the fighter and promoter), but it seems strange to me that boxing wouldn't do more to tap that market.

Seemes that Dana White's marketing stratgy for the UFC is to disparage boxing whenever he has the chance.

1stly... Im a fan of MMA too but Dana White ought to shut the **** up, the guy is a *****.

Maybe he should look a little closer to home, it was only in the last UFC event that 1 of the best ever UFC fighters & at that time UFC HWT champion Randy Couture lost his belt to Brock Lesnar - a former WWE wrestler with less than 5 MMA fights under his belt.

No sport is perfect & every sport has its good & bad moments, maybe he should stick to his own **** & try sort that out before opening his fat ****ing mouth.

Boxing may lack the draw power of Delahoya once he retires but you could say the same of UFC once Chuck Liddell & Randy Couture hang em up - which is just around the corner IMO.

I stopped reading after you said that it's Andersons BJJ that would win him a fight against the boxer.

Anderson SIlva does'nt need to use his BJJ ONCE to beat a boxer because he is a master of the most dangerous stand up martial art in the world which is Muay Thai.

He would punish any pure boxers leg's and he's a master in the clinch with his knees.

It is a FACT, like the sky is blue that Muay Thai is the ultimate stand up martial art.

Boxing is inferior to Muay Thai.

Its pretty much common sense that a master of 4 weapons (fists knees, elbows and shin kicks) is more dangerous than a master of one (fists).

No pure boxer who thinks he can win a fight by just boxing stand's a chance against Anderosn Silva. :deal

Why is Dana White always talking **** about boxing but you never hear Oscar De La Hoya, Bob Arum, or Don King talk **** about MMA?

    What is his problem?

Dana white should stick to that UFC crap. Only in Ufc can a former WWE champion be UFC heacyweight Champion with 4 fights. 3-1. Talk about hypocrisey.
