typical dana though rumour has it chavez martinez done 500,000 ppv buys which is pretty damn good considering there was a GBP ppv on the very same night and thats a legit 500k not a UFC 500k, that will lead chavez getting close to 10 million no wonder dana is butthurt over this chavez who is a shite boxer is getting double what he is paying his p4p stars, he is talking smack cause the UFC is doing the worst it has in years
They are coming. There are more fighters and gyms than there have ever been before. And more fighters are earning more money than has ever been on the table before. And UFC fighters do have universal healthcare. If they injure themselves and need surgery, the UFC will pay for it. As opposed to fighters injuring themselves in camp and then needing to fight while injured so they can use their fight purse to pay for surgery. :good Honestly, some of you guys act like MMA has been thriving for decades and then Zuffa came along and suddenly raped and murdered it. We're still less than a decade removed from TUF1, FFS. Look at the strides the sport has taken in that short time. Then remember that when Anderson started fighting it was not even considered a legitimate sport, much less a mainstream one which had events shown live on Fox primetime and superstars with their own line of Nike shoes. :deal :hat
That's true. But hey, Mir is still relevant. He's still coming up with good wins and looking impressive. So he can't do anything with Cigano, who is closer to prime, better than Mir ever was and is a horrific style matchup as well. That doesn't mean he sucks, and anyone who says he isn't a top-5 UFC HW is just plain hating. :good And Jones-Belfort was an ass-pull, plain and simple. But Belfort is a popular fighter who has put a good run together these last few years. Plus, in terms of people buying the fight, Anderson-Belfort was a bigger deal than all of Belfort's fights against Couture, Tito and Chuck combined. :yep I don't approve of everything Dana and the UFC does. They make mistakes. They get a little tyrannical. But as someone else said, all this Chicken Little **** is ridiculous. The future of the sport in the medium-term is assured. More people are participating than ever before. Fox is committed to broadcasting it. It's never had more mainstream recognition or legitimacy. MMA is here to stay now, and it's because of the UFC. If the UFC collapses and dies, the sport will survive because it has now broken through. There are enough young fighters and enough mainstream acceptance and recognition that other orgs will pick up the slack. Now awaiting your reply of a single laughing emoticon or a Youtube video. :good :hat
As usual Im not going to read that. Skimming past your posts must have worn at least a quarter inch of my index finger off on my mouse wheel
Why? You read too slowly? It's 230 words. If you read at average speed, that should take less than a minute to read. If you're a smart guy, it's more like twenty or thirty seconds. :blood Here's the sumup. Mir is currently a top-5 HW, and he's an ATG and future HOFer. MMA is bigger and more relevant now than ever before. Even if the UFC suddenly collapsed, MMA would carry on because it now has enough fighters, mainstream credibility and money on the table for other orgs to immediately appear. Though yesterday this forum went for more than eight hours without anyone making a single post. Good posters have disappeared at a steady rate over the last several months. But I suspect that's because of the constantly negative, aggressive and schoolyard-type tone of most of the regulars, rather than the state of the sport. :-( :hat
Another worthwhile contribution to a thread. :good Well done, Stoo. Join an MMA discussion board, post half a dozen times in a thread while refusing to talk MMA unless the other person parrots your opinion. Interesting and worthwhile contributions from someone who's been following the sport for longer than I have. :thumbsup Good thing there's plenty of other regular and casual posters here who like to have a friendly convo about MMA, huh? Oh wait, this forum is a ****ing ghost town. Might have something to do with almost every new poster soon abandoning it because of the constant negativity. :-( :hat
Why don't you just put me on ignore? :conf For some reason you have a hard-on for me, and you're determined to be a dick no matter how I speak to you or what my opinions on any MMA topics are. Apparently there's just no way you and I can interact with any sort of civility. :-( So either we constantly snipe at each other for no reason like bitchy schoolgirls on the rag, or one of us has to ignore the other. So the forum either gets even bitchier, or becomes even more of a ghost town. Either way, this forum gets less MMA talk. Yes, yes, I know. Didn't read LOL. You might as well send a text message to your fellow expert scurla, so he can run in and post his millionth picture of a dog taking a ****. Won't that be an interesting and worthwhile contribution. atsch :hat
Yeah, good thing Stoo was here. There was no conversation going in this thread before he showed up with his emoticons and rescued it. Now the MMA discussion in this thread is so much more interesting. :good :hat
Not talking about guys already in the UFC. This is a high impact sport and the problem is that injuries are commonplace. Theres a reason they are trying to put age restrictions. And also the second paragraph you wrote makes no sense. Yes Zuffa brought it back but that doesnt mean Hes not killing it now. You must also stop with this Dana should pay GSP 20 Million and Anderson 30 Million. No one is saying they should get paid that much its the low level guy in a ppv card, they need to get paid better.
