If the guy deserves a shot then he shouldnt be butt raped by Dana, fighters need these big fights to feed their family, its their profession and no promoter should renege on a promise provided that fighter won his fight.
Hey man I agree. But you being one of the first guy to criticise boring fighters are just using this as an excuse to bash Dana. Me & you have personally had debates about GSP's style, which you said was boring, how is Okami's any different. You've said GSP doesnt take risks. Well if Okami took risks like the fighter who are your personal favs and happen to fight outside of the UFC then maybe he would have had his shot alrerady. Now I believe it's not the best situation and I stated earlier that I feel sorry or Yushin. But you anti-UFC guys, you and Snakerattle in particular cant have it both ways, accusing the UFC of putting on boring fights in one thread. Then slagging Dana for putting on a potentially more exciting fight that most of the guys in this forum (I.E. paying customers) would prefere to see in the next thread
As I'v said before I'd be much happier if Anderson just moved up to LHW, thats always been where the best and biggest fights have been and the Shogun/Jones winner is likely going to be hot as hell aswell making for a massive fight. Anderson vs Shogun/Bones for the LHW title. GSP vs Okami for the MW title. Too many needlessly long layoffs are happening right now and its hurting fighters careers.
Id love a Shogun v Silva fight. There's no reason for them not to fight is there, like Chute Box loyalty or friendship like Machida & Silva?
They wont fight. Anderson used to part of ChuteBoxe. I believe he and Shogun are still very good friends. Although they're not in the same camp anymore.
Funny you mention that, I've watched the whole UFC 126 post fight press conference yesterday and Silva mentionned he would never move to LHW and never fight his long time training partners. Vitor used to be one of those and Silva said that Vitor chose his path, that's most likely one of the reason for the animosity between the two. So according to Anderson, Shogun vs Silva should never happen. You should watch that press conference, very interesting, as Shogun is actually sitting next to Jones and Silva.
It is time for GSP vs Silva and Jones vs Rua. These 2 fights are off the ****ing chart and would never happen easily in boxing. Thank god for dictatorship *takes cover*
Yeah, even a boxing purist like myself has pretty much made the fulltime switch to MMA to get my combat fix.
Just thinking more about this and its an unbelievably stupid article. If you hear the likes of Meltzer there's plenty in the UFC that are **** scarred that by allowing GSP to move up in weight they risk killing the golden goose. That they can continue to milk GSP defending his welterweight title for years and that they risk damaging the drawing power of their best young star by risking him losing in humiliating fashion. That they are willing to put all that to one side to allow the biggest fight to be made is an example of the UFC giving to the fans, not screwing them over. Now advertising a match as a number one contender's match and then not delivering is wrong, and its a bad habit that they picked up in 2010. That doesn't mean they should give Okami his shot any more than they should have given Fitch one...if they're not sure they should keep their options open.
:good you're exactly right. no federations, no excuses from fighters and promoters. one governing body calling the shots, and one belt for each division which all the fighters covet because it really does symbolise who is the best.
Why can't Okami fight Silva on the same card as GSP and Shields (April 30th), he didn't take any damage Saturday? Then they can both have the same amount of time to get ready for each other. Me personally I think Silva is WAY too big for GSP and will totally embarass him. I think it is a mistake on GSP's part to even take the fight, but I'll watch. haha
