It's all about TV and whether Dana White can get a broadcast deal. He has a lot of goodwill with ESPN but they have a boxing deal with Top Rank so not sure they could give Dana White a broadcast deal.
This would be entertaining if it became populated with like mid tier and journeymen boxers who then had a lot of success there beating up mma fighters who tries to cross over. Wouldn't mind seeing like spike O'Sullivan ko some top tier UFC talent (I don't watch UFC so I don't know which of their stars is a middleweight)
I would love to see Dana bring the UFCs organization and packaging to boxing. He wanted to do this for years and the most recent thing I saw about it was that he gave up on it saying he's done with the idea finally after seeing it wouldn't work. Wonder what changed. I always thought he should focus bottom up, and grown his own stars, then try to grow bottom down, like the PBC tried to do, and what Dana already failed to do before he began. Run some Ultima fighter type boxing shows and build from the ground up. Grow organic attractions. Anyways, despite Dana criminally underpayment his fighters, it will be interesting to see if he could pull of a boxing company and I think the sport would benefit from him doing so. People will never want to accept this but UFC is starting to really outshine boxing, and it has everything to do with boxing killing itself.
Been waiting for this for years. Boxing has gone quiet and the ufc is garbage. UBC, a sister promotion of the UFC, in the Octagon with 4-6oz gloves. Open mics so you actually hear the crowd, and no god-awful Bruce Buffer or Joe Rogan. And no bs weighins 36 hours before fight time. I don't think White will bother, though
