And there are aspects of the UFC that are better than Pride.. I tend to like the more international feeling of Pride, though it was clearly Japanese, it appealed to MMA fans.

As my taste in MMA has matured, I think no weight class competitions were outright stupid, freakshow matches at the time were okay, but they aren't needed anymore. I think the freakshow matches are Japans sort of version of having the Hulkster hang out with Joe Roegan, a way to appeal to the masses... Genki Sudo vs. Bob Sapp sort of fights are not needed, MMA has evolved past that b.s.
but I can see the validity of a Grand Prix if they are like two one minute rounds in pride rules/no elbows..

I still not sold on cage vs ring, and prefer neither, as both cage and ring can be used as a sort of weapon in a fight..

I feel soccer kicks and knees to the head of a charging opponent should be allowed as in pride.. If you have a great shot as a wrestler or bjj player, part of the risk is getting blown away for putting your head down low in such a vulnerable position and using poor timing.

For elbows, I say allow them all or disallow them all... None of this north south bull****.. Elbows are going to cause nasty cuts, and are going to break eye sockets regardless of where they are thrown from..

Best of both worlds would be nice.. Best of Pride along with best of UFC would be a dream come true.

  2. All good points there. I was more relating to the obvious immaturity and unprofressionalism of it all.

I don't want to bring up a ufc v pride argument (done and finished) but seeing this brings back memories of the way things were done better. That and I have personal hate for dana white.
