    Does DDD have star appeal?
Honestly in terms of looks and ability this kid is a monster?

I know he didn't win olympic Gold but he just came in @ the wrong time or you could say he turned pro a bit early. He was too young for 2016 and didn't want to wait for 2020, he's still a bit of a prodigy if you ask me.

I actually think he looks a lot more natural in the ring than AJ, and is said to hit just as hard.

    Now to my question-

I have heard many commentators state that anyone could promote AJ in to a PPV machine and Eddie/matchroom were in the right place @ the right time.

Do you think the same of DDD? Would you be appalled if this beast never reached close to AJ or at minimum greater than David Haye appeal?

How big can he get realistically?

It's so early to call man, almost impossible. With AJ he already had exposure to the public because he was an Olympic gold medalist in the 'premier' weight division. If he deserved gold or not can be speculated but that's beside the point. Now we know that AJ's fan base is largely casual to the extreme. Even my Nan knows who he is and wishes him well "because he's a nice boy". Largely I find the casual audience to be patriotic and always wanting to 'back the Brit'. A patriotic audience will always vociferously back an Olympian. So before we've had the media training and the mass hype pumped by Sky there's a huge potential for product there. When you couple that with the fact he has a VERY casual friendly fighting style and the fact his nice interviews can be plastered all over Sky, it'd be difficult for him not to be as huge as he is.

So for Dubois, he isn't going to have the inherent casual fan base that comes with being an Olympian or on Sky. The BT deal Frank has will likely get him known to more football fans than would have been possible in the past and I know myself a few casual fans who have heard his name from watching stuff on BT. He's what, 20 now? He has a LONG time to build up a fan base and make himself marketable. He isn't a great talker at the moment but this is all very new still. He's on about winning every belt possible and the whole DDD thing is something people will lap up. But given where he is at presently it's impossible to judge really. If he's the goods then he can attract big appeal. People ****ing love good Heavyweights and with Fury possibly coming back (who attracts attention, maybe not for the right reason but attention all the same) and likely to probably work with Warren then this can help project Dubois forward.

How's that for an essay which hardly answers any of your points?

Am not buying into the hype until he fights even an average opponent but Frank could be doing more like when ever theres a break on bt stick clip of Dubois knocking someone out and the fans will see it but so far nothing

Done everything right so far but not sure he will ever carry the star appeal AJ has. Not just because he won't be on Sky - the olympics were huge for AJ. Joe Public knows him and his face is everywhere.

Dubois cracked me up at the Degale press conference this week, man came dressed like a 40 year old dad of three, dressed in an ill-fitting checkered shirt.

He's a young Heavyweight killer and image is important in boxing. AJ appeals to the women and casuals largely because of his image, Dubois needs a makeover to look more "current". Doesn't help he can't talk well ATM.

He reminds me of Lenny from Of Mice and Men.

Hope he makes it though I like him.

Yeah I had a good laugh at that to, but he does seem truly humble and just seems to like a fight, he’s seems to have more power than aj and like someone else said does seem more natural than Joshua, but there’s a lot of question marks that have to be answered like how his chin is what his stamina is like and he has to work on his defence, but he’s clearly a huge talent.

The key thing about AJ’s Olympic gold which people seem to forget is that it was on home soil. He was catapulted in to the big time off that. His stock was massive compared to the likes of Degale simply because it was home soil.

You just can’t buy that exposure.

What Frank and BT could do is stick him everywhere. Adverts in between champions league and premier league games. Billboards. They’ll never have the exposure of a SSN but that would be a great start.

If he does have genuine power as it appears so far... he should be marketed as the mean terminator like boxer of the division.

Poor lad is only young and i am sure he will improve with more confidence and age..

But at the moment he comes across as Lennie from Of Mice and Men... big, strong but a tad bit dim!

Joshua won a gold medal on free to air TV in front of millions so he's miles ahead of Dubois or any fighter regardless of promoter.

That said, he's very young and keeping busy which is a good start.

Seems a very down to earth guy - and Joshua has a very fake public persona. I would personally love to see DDD flatten him but time will tell

Unfortunately for Dubois, and Joyce too.. there's a load of Eastern European heavyweight prospects that look the real deal.. Oleksandr Teslenko, Filip Hrgovic, Ivan Dychko, Vladyslav Sirenko, Sergey Kuzmin etc and plenty more, plus Oleksandr Usyk and Murat Gassiev will be moving up
