when fasting, the body burns fat AND fast twitch muscle.

the bodies immmune system is weakened dramatically, often the boxer catches a flu virus, but because of the preasure of 'turning up', still fights, which leads to dehydration and possible brain damage.

there are boxers here that may share stories of boxers losing too much weight and fighting.....sick fighters fighting due to immune system weakening, and becoming hurt.

as much as i rag mundine. i really think he is getting dangerous advice going to 154, when he has already failed to make that weight, and hasnt produced a ko since he left the super middle division.

hes fighting the number 6 argentinian welterweight. there is the confidence in the advice hes geting.

    blame jeff malcolm.

Not Jeffs idea mate....but you can blame another x ESB poster who was a industry pro that got driven out of the forum and insulted.

I guess after a while not 1 industry pro will ever post in here again because of all the hate and personal insults :-(

i am an athlete of some reasonable level.

I can tell you if i diet a bit too hard and lose maybe 500gms more than i kinda targeted for I get the following.

    Headaches
    Sore Joints
    Muscle bruising lasts alot longer.
Recovery period is **** for any excercise

I am not a fighter but i can tell you EVERYONE has that point where - its too much.

Until a fighter reaches is they might believe it doesnt exists. But honestly - the second that 500gm or 1kg goes back on me i am peak.

Interesting last line mate....they plan to have choc sit at 71.5 kgs until 2 days out....he will only be at 69.6 for 1 day....fight time hes back to 73kgs.

Hes 73kgs now and spars 12 hard rounds with 2 fighters (6 each)

bull ****en ****. he is in it up to his cranial foreskin...

and if the argie welterweight manages to take a dehydrated, sick, badly advised mundine the distance, and mundine ends up like green did against sullivan....(nearly died) then all mundines nuthuggers, and closest confidants THAT WERE LISTENED TO to, should turn up on malcolms door and get an explination...:deal

Ohhh but, if there was a WORLD TITLE on the line it would be okay to put him in against a decent opponent, right?

You said he's sparring 12 hard rounds against 2 decent partners at his current walking weight right now and should have no bother reaching 154 for the weigh in before loading back up to said walking weight for fight night.

If this is true, why does he need such an easy fight at 154?

****'s sakes, do you keep track of the bull**** you spin on here? You are being severely exposed.

alright mate i wont pretend to pay much attention to the aussie forum for precisely the reason i am citing ( too much rubbish - not enough talk of boxing).

But i will say this - i do not think Choc will be effective at 154 by any stretch, he isnt fighting a threatening fighter so its hardly a problem. But losing 3kgs in three days ISNT the smart plan.

The effects of deydration and catabolic muscle activity arent reversed in a 24 hour turn around.

    Bad move

So instead of Floyd going from super feather straight to a title fight against Castillo at lightweight (which he won), he should have fought an imposter instead?

Cotto should have had an easy touch before jumping from jnr welter to welter to meet Quintano for a title? Even though he won the WBA title in doing so?

JMM must have had balls of steel. Went from Jimrex Jaca at featherweight straight to a title fight with Barrera at super feather. And he won. :hey

Of course you will counter that it's different moving down in weight. And it may be - because ageing fighters should be putting on weight, not starving themselves as they dodge and weeve away from real challenges.

But whatever...those guys I listed didn't need a punching bag to be brought in so they could test the waters before fighting for a title. And the funny part in all this - the end of the rainbow for choc in all this testing the waters first bs is a friggin interim belt which means jack **** anyway. LOL
