Marcos Maidana was like a fruit smoothie blender. All those looping wild shots, u didnt want to get to close. But if u hurt him...be prepared for him to crank it up a notch. Just look at his incredible brawl with ortiz. I dont think i ever saw Maidana take a step back.

Ali always got off the floor and he always put the hurting on his opponent when they dropped him.

Ray Robinson, one instance where I don't remember the name, but this guy was battering him against the ropes and Robinson throws a home run right hand while back peddling and drops the man for the 10 count. I also remember hearing a journalist say "If you knocked him down and he was down on one knee looking at you, you were in trouble."

    Holyfield,

He had a very simple operating philosophy. When they strike hit back harder. If you can't just hit back meaner. Probably my pick for guy you;d hate to meet in a dark alley.

Mike Weaver & Jake LaMotta both pulled late "miracle" k.o.'s when behind late and losing.
I wouldn't count Carmen Basilio out at any time of the fight in an equally sized bout.

Holyfield was such a competitor. He wouldn't let guys get one over him no matter how small, he had to be in charge.

I recall any interview where Evander showed a newsman around his palatial home. He would stop at every room to point something out, like the pool table, the bowling alley, the pool and other innocuous things. At each and every stop he would tell he could beat the newsman at whatever he was pointing out. I don't think Evander was being rude, it was just how his mind works.
