Headlining a PPV at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on October eighteenth. Ten rounds at super welterweight. García, formerly a world titlist at 140 and 147lbs, is officially 1-0 in the 154lb division. He defeated José Benavidez Jr. via MD in his super welter debut in July of 2022. In three years and three months since, García has fought just once - a losing bid for the WBA middleweight title versus Erislandy Lara thirteen months ago. González has also spent the bulk of his career at welter and light welter - and in fact has never had a contest scheduled for 154lbs. There have been a couple set to have taken place at welter in which he and/or his opponent missed weight - he is 2-0 on those occasions. He is the current IBF USBA welterweight champion. Both men are proud Puerto Ricans born and bred on the U.S. east coast - García repping Philly and González the nearly as boricua-heavy Woodhaven, Queens, NYC. Both are in their mid-thirties; García is 37 and González is 35. Garcia has a half an inch of both reach and height over González at 5'8½" and 68½". Both men have four losses. Garcia's came to higher caliber opponents, but González was competitive in defeat against Ananyan and Algieri.
