If your opponent keeps tying you up to prevent you from fighting in the area you do you best work just allow them to do it all night so you lose a UD on the cards. Don't engage in any roughhousing because the ref will suddenly remember he's been vested with the power to issue warnings lol.

Close fight. I think people were scoring some of those rounds in favour of Fulton for looking more flashy but you could hear a lot of those shots were hitting arms, shoulders and gloves, not to say some of Khegai's weren't too.

Maybe, but that's to be expected in an appallingly atrocious division like 154.:deal:

I hope Khegai gets a decent fight next, he's gutsy and quite effective with his work too. When he was jabbing and feinting inside he was killing Fulton just outside the pocket. He could make for a decent fight against a Ceja or the like.

I liked what I saw tonight from Stephen Fulton Jr.

His opponent came to fight tonight using forward aggression and looking to land combinations in close, with some rough (and dirty & illegal tactics). Khegai was throwing wild, looping, overhand power-shots from start to finish.

Fulton Jr. adjusted from the first bell by staying behind his jab and moving, and when he wanted to planted his feet and landed combinations to the body and as the fight went on the combinations moved up the the head too. He mostly controlled the exchanged until the last 3 rounds or so. He got caught with right that hurt him (round 10?) and responded correctly by sticking with the game-paln. He simply refused to let Khegai land on him consistently, and when he did he did not allow Khegai to follow up. All whilst Fulton Jr. landed his own jabs, rights and his combinations.

Fulton Jr. might not become number 1 at 122 but he has a good enough future in the division. It's a shame he does not have a slightly more pop in his punches because that would be enough for him to become a fighter to beat at 122. I will certainly be following his career.

Hurd's cut off his lion's mane. Uh oh. Like Samson, will his limited power completely vanish tonight?

    ^ point for Hurd.

It has been a decade (as of two months ago), however, since Chia was stopped.

    ^ point for Santana.

The fighter that stopped him? Karim Mayfield, in their rematch - a fighter not dissimilar in style to (and smaller than) Hurd.

    ^ point for Hurd.

That was a chintzy stoppage of a dehydrated Santana, who already had proven he could take Mayfield's shots in their original meeting (which he lost via SD).

    ^ point for Santana.

Usually, speaking of close decisions, the judges go against Chia. Bunch of points losses and the draw with J-Rock.

    ^ point for Hurd.

...same J-Rock that beat up Hurd.

    ^ point for Santana.

...but that was a green Williams in a learning 6-rounder, not the finished article that became champ.

    ^ point for Hurd.

The finished article of Chia did get the nod recently in the underdog role in his biggest victory, over Felix Diaz, a better fighter than Hurd.

    ^ point for Santana.

Lots to consider. Weights and counter-weights (figurative and literal) galore on the scales...
