My first exposure was his clear outpointing of Lawrence Tauasa on the undercard of the Fight of the Century (in New Zealand), and have since watched his contest with Costa Chondras. My impression was that he was very busy and built for distance, had a decent skillset, a strong jab and some ability to box and move well against slower types. That said, he hits about as hard as a Nerf Blaster. He's also hittable early before "waking up" defensively. His opponent, once-beaten Alexeev, is taller, longer, can match his workrate, has KO power, and a sound and technical European style. He only bottled it against Victor Ramirez because the Argentine applied relentless pressure and Alex didn't like the rough play, quitting in his corner. While I don't see Ammann retreating, it's doubtful he can earn the Russian's respect in the same manner with his inferior power. Is Daniel being thrown to the wolves here, or has he some prayer? :think
i think he is being thrown to the wolves, alexeev from what ive heard is very good, ib please post the result once its heard... ammann isnt overly skilled fight defensively, he is just a busy pressure guy with not much power.... think he should appreciate the opportunity just dont think its the fight he needed just yet...
Man you love your fights! I was at that Costa fight aswell as heaps of other Daniel Ammann bouts. (also trained at his gym) He's been out champ for a couple years now. Ammann is disciplined careful defense and doesn't get shook easily. Good workrate to go the 12 and technical ability. Great jab and Ammann has smart footwork but to be honest I wouldn't have no clue how he'd match up with Alexeev. It sounds like a risky shot by Daniel. I'm checking the Russian right now :yep I know Alexeev won't be landing that sick upper cut easy on Daniel. Also Alexeev looks to have much great power which is best asset.
