Has anybody ever seen footage? I've read several accounts that Cormier absolutely dominated Browne with striking (largely but not entirely on the ground) and destroyed him in a matter of minutes, but according to a thread on Sherdog from a few years ago this is the only fight of Cormier's that doesn't have a single GIF or video anywhere online.
I've tried finding it a couple of times(even way back in the day a year or two after it happened) and never had any luck. Just one of those "lost" fights I'd guess. Would be a great question to ask DC in an interview or if he does an AMA.
Hmm. Oh well, thanks for replying anyway. I was considering whether to put a little something-something on Dillian Whyte, since I suspect he might be the "livest" body that Browne has faced since Cormier (before he switched his primary disciplinary focus to boxing) - as when you examine his list of boxing opponents it has been a parade of guys that are fat and/or ponderously slow and/or light-hitting and/or rusty and/or well past their sell-by. Whyte is maybe the first even remotely explosive, big, strong, young, prime aggressive guy to stand in the opposite corner from him since DC. He's also 6'4" and ~245ish whereas Cormier is 5" less (with 6" less reach) and roughly 40lb lighter. I appreciate that MMA and boxing are their own separate things, but if the reports are true and Browne was really just bushwhacked via pure striking (however much was on his feet versus on his back) as opposed to grappling (since that would be more to Cormier's strengths) then maybe his chin isn't as good as everybody assumes. Turns out it might not be worth lumping on Whyte, though. For all the forum talk I expected it to be evens or perhaps even with Browne installed as the slight favorite - but per oddschecker, it appears Whyte is a 2/5 fave.
Im pretty sure it was on Fox Sports Australia because I definately remember seeing the fight or at least the highlights and from what I remember it didnt take long for Cormier to get the takedown on his 1st or 2nd attempt . I could be wrong about this part but I think the rest of the fight was Cormier GNP and Browne holding off submission attempts before stoppage on the ground from punches and a big elbow that caused cut with a lot of blood, there may have been 1 standup but Cormier dominated taking little to no damage
