Daniel Dubious suffers broken orbital bone and nerve damage

    Strange that when I started following boxing back in the late 80s/early 90s, whenever someone got a eye injury, their biggest worry was that they may have suffered an detached retina. Now the most common injury whenever gets a swollen or closed eye seems to be a orbital bone fracture.

    Exactly. Thumbing was generally the cause. Detached retinas were the dangerous injuries that tended to cause blindness throughout the sport's history. And even those injuries seem to be corrected with surgeries today.

    Orbital bones are bones. Generally speaking they tend to heal like bones do.

    This is why I don't blame guys for quitting at times. They know something and they know their body. People have been too hard on him. This sounds like a dangerous injury.
