Yeah. He's a really nice lad too and someone who seems ill at ease around the cameras. He was nervous last night too and I was actually impressed with his performance. I thought he put up a spirited effort against a much more experienced and battle-tested opponent who is much tougher to fight that it appears from watching him outside the ring.

He had to stop. This doesn’t change his lack of defense or gassing.

Meh. hes a 6'4 244lb puncher with all the physical tools to turn it round, joyce was a 3/1 underdog, i dont feel much symphathy for dubois it is the hurt game. he landed his best and when he couldnt hurt or deter joyce he panicked. but he was actually winning the fight by 1 round and not taking huge punishment. Literally a case of the bully get bullied, or a man who hasnt faced hardship due to being a physical beast. mentally he is not strong!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He's young and hasn't faced adversity. Thats what I saw. If he responds with hunger and cones back stronger then I'll give him high credit.

He possesses the physical tools but he lacks the experience and in hindsight they shouldn't have put him in there with someone of Joyce's caliber and experience yet. I think he did panic somewhat because he's never been in a real fight before as a pro and certainly not one over that distance or faced someone who could take his power like Joyce and his eye was obviously badly injured and only he knows how painful it was and what it felt like.

And a broken nose, too, I believe.

Chris Algieri suffered one in the first round against Provodnikov, and still managed to win the title. The history of boxing is full of fighters who had their eyes shut tight in a fight. Most of them had fractures. They just fought when a postfight hospital trip wasn't part of the procedure.

It hurts when you break anything. It hurts when you break your jaw and someone keeps punching it. It hurts when you break your hand and you have to keep throwing it at someone's skull. It hurts when you break your nose and someone keeps bashing you in the face.

    Some guys quit. Some don't.

Dubois quit. And, now that we know the scorecards, even if he got up in the 10th, he still couldn't lose on one judge's card if he just didn't go down again. And he was ahead on another card, too. All he had to do was keep trying. That's what his cornermen were saying.

If he'd stood up for two more rounds and simply managed to slip a freaking jab after getting hit with it for a half hour straight, he'd have won on at least one card (and maybe two).

Some fighters get all the breaks from day one: great promoter, great exposure, TV dates, high ratings before they've have a dozen fights, and judges who will give them literally every round when they are getting their head jabbed off ...

And they still quit when one thing doesn't go their way.

You either fight through the pain and keep trying to win, or you don't.

Now we know about Dubois. He isn't one of them.

Pain is the game, pain doesn't come into it for me. Fear of loss of an eye is worth quitting for. But guess what Joyce isn't the only one who can take dubois power. So he's going to become far more rounded, he's also going to have to go straight back in with a tough opponent, and not be cuddled back to a title shot. Bakole Vs Dubois would be a good fight.

Not a quitter because injury is legit. Same with Golota from Tyson match.

It was a nasty injury. He was in panic mode mid rounds. I think he knew something was broke a few rounds before.

You're talking to a gypsy warrior but one who doesn't judge non-gypsies by gypsy standards because I know that we're built different from everyone else.

Listen to the wisdom of this iron-jawed non gypsy warrior

''It's human nature. For every one Arturo Gatti there's about 7 billion other people in the world who know when to stop and Daniel falls into that category.. he's human. He's a baby. He's only 23 y/o''

What Allen is essentially saying here is that not everyone is a gypsy and he's right

Bakole already bashed up Dubois in the gym so that's a bad idea

Dubious Daniel is definitely a quitter, probably one of the worst quitters I have ever seen in the sport.

FFS he quit after getting jabbed to a pulp what a *****,

Definitely not a future star, think he folds even quicker next time

Chin isn't bad but zero in the heart department.

Would be different if he was actually getting hit with bombs

I'm also a thorough bred and hurty eye wouldn't stop me. Get carried out in a heap or nothing! Lol. Seriously though you can't put journeyman punchbags in the same mould as future contenders. Dubois let himself down, he knows it.
