You’ve picked an extreme example in Joyce because he turned pro so late.

My contention would be that Joyce fought Gorman in a high quality fight early this year and has since regressed very significantly in terms of quality.

Get him in with Anthony Fury-Klitschko now - he would splat him no problem.

Exactly if he is good enough now to fight for a title he should fight for one.

He could get a bad injury and never be the same again, and then he would regret not facing the best when he was ready.

I personally think he needs another 3 fights in 12 months prior to then getting his world title shot. Just so he can have a gradual step in class before he goes in against an elite HW.

Dubois will have fought 5 times in 2019. He's had his breakout fight for the year, so everything else really is keeping him busy, increased exposure, and record building.

I'd err on the side of caution with his development, as it should be a lot easier to snap a fighter out of stagnating than it is to rebuild them after a crushing loss.

The thing missing from his schedule this year has been experienced gatekeeper types who may take him rounds and give him something to think about. I think he should be looking at people like Wach, Stiverne, Arreola, maybe Takam or Martin. Johnson is the only guy who has took him past 5, and he could do with getting a gut-check or two to stand him in better stead for when he does get to title level.

If he ****s about for the next 12 months fighting Tettehs and Fujimoto, then that would definitely be stagnation and open season for criticism.

Whatever you think about the way Warren brings fighters up, more often than not he gets the timing right.

I agree but looking at Wilder who is a much better talker than Dubois the style carries you a long way but not to mega stardom. Wilder's profile is some way behind AJ's and even Mike Tyson's who had Hearn and Don King behind them banging the drum.

Also it would be useful if Frank pormoted an event that sells out every now and then.

I actually think it would be useful to get him on the Wilder vs Fury underc card.

Come on Jurgen, dubois couldn't splat kingpin Johnson. You're getting a bit carried away with your hatred for pudding AJ.

He was bored in the ring that night against punchbag kingpin.

The best chance Anthony Fury-Klitschko has to beat him is to fight him next year as the longer it goes, the easier the fight will be for DDD.

He's well down the queue so If Joshua can get through whyte, usyk, Wilder, fury, and the rest Dubois might get a crack.

Cannot see him fighting any of that list mate - next 2 years will be Pulev, Whyte 2, Parker 2 and I can see Chisora being squeezed in for a voluntary with Eh day wearing a jug of water at the presser.

He should step it up. There’s a chance of becoming the youngest British world heavyweight champion.

People call Dubois boring but I think he is one of the more likeable fighters out there. Reserved and maybe docile out of the ring but a menace in it. Reminds me of a young Tyson. Seems to be more confident in interviews now. I think rushing him could be a mistake, he still seems inexperienced, he gets angry drawn into brawls and leaves himself open for massive counters at times. Probably needs some refining before stepping up, and he has time on his side.
