Dubois didn't get discouraged to throw because Joyce slipped some of his punches i think it was the damage Joyces jab caused, but tbh even from the legit start of the fight it was a chess match. Dubois wasn't doing his usual robotic Anthony Joshua esq marching forward looking to land power punches type style. Even before Joyce started jabbing to his eye Dubois was staying at range, i think even to the point where Joyce was the one walking him down in round one.

I agree is the sense that Joyce easily evaded Dubois's right hand by moving to his right but when Dubois didn't just throw a telegraphed right and started getting agressive especially in spots in rounds 5, 6, and 7 he landed significantly more. It isn't comparable to Wilder/Fury because Fury slipped almost ALL of Wilder attacks nomatter what Wilder did, whether he threw one punch or a sloppy combination. Wilder needed to learn to pick his shots better, not throw more, and thats how he almost knocked Fury out in the 12th. Lots of times when Wilder telegraphed his right by throwing a short left hand and following it with a right straight, Fury ducked it, so in round 12 Wilder threw a short jab and baited Fury into ducking and then Wilder punched downwards and landed before finishing off with a left hook. Dubois had the ability to get into range and let his hands go despite Joyces quick feet and head movement because he had success lot of the times he did it but as you said it could be a stamina problem or maybe im overrating Dubois's skills

Hopefully... There will be some nerves I would think, but it's a solid enough opponent for a return after an injury like that.

How either of them gets comfortably inside top ten I have no idea, let alone #2, but the fight itself is not without interest.

 

I knew this was a waste of time.
