Both showed courage in the last two fights, unlike Hrgovic Kabayel would not have such a bad defense, who would win?
Kabayel by stoppage, he would be a slight underdog in this fight I believe. However I doubt the dubious one would be able to stand up to an onslaught from a pressure fighter like Kabayel for 12 rounds.
Hope this happens because I know the bookies will price Kabayel nicely, then I'd genuinely lump my life savings on him.
Kabayel would outclass Dubois though it'll be classed as a fifty fifty. It's a good fight to be made if you want to make some coin, I agree.
Kabayel is the more skilled fighter but something changed in Dubois in the Miller fight when he had to dig deep and you just know he'll give it his all now and with his power will be dangerous. I favour Kabayel to stop him but I wouldn't right Dubois off.
One of those days, someone will have to explain to me why fans of the heavyweight division are particularly prone to falling for hype... Kabayel's looked decent in his previous two fights - but those were against highly overrated fighters Sanchez and Makhmudov who had, at best, a gatekeeper between them on their resumes. Sanchez best wins are Hammer (journeyman: best win David Price), Ajagba (journeyman: best win Cojanu) and a bunch of jobbers... That's really not impressive at all for a 31 year old fighter - okay he'd never lost, but he'd fought nobody good, either. Then you have Makhmudov, who'd done little more - Takam at least qualified as a gatekeeper at one stage but was nearly 42 by the time Makh got hold of him, Wach was 42 and had lost plenty, and Sam Peter was a ruined shell too... These guys should be beatable if you're remotely decent - and I'm talking gatekeeper level and not ancient/shot. That's not to say Kabayel isn't decent, but he's got a hell of a lot still to prove - and he's getting hyped way harder after beating a pair of mediocrities than he was after easily his best win (Chisora) at which point he was considered a joke as a potential opponent for Joshua. Dubois has his limitations but he's way, way more proven, in only two less pro fights - despite being 5 years younger. Dubois should be heavy favourite in any evidence based sense.
Don't look for reasons to underestimate Kabayel, he beat two dangerous fighters in impressive fashion by beating them convincingly, he deserves a chance and if he gets it he can take it because that's the type of fighter he is...
Didn't buying into how overhyped Hrgovic was with a super thin resume teach you anything? I don't say that to mock, but it seems to be a pattern with heavyweights - people jump onto fads of overhyping fighters who have very limited achievements... Then drop them like a stone when they lose and latch onto the next hypejob instead. You don't need reasons to "underestimate" Kabayel... You need good reasons to think he's any good - and his resume provides very little. He looked good against Sanchez and Makhmudov - but those guys are bang average with next to nothing achieved... It's a massive overstatement to call either of them "dangerous". Literally one gatekeeper between them - and a 41, nearly 42, year old one at that. This isn't about picking holes for the hell of it - it's pointing out something that should be ridiculously obvious to anyone who gives the facts even the most cursory glance.
Underestimated Kabayel the past two fights picking him to lose. In each one he looked more and impressive (against Sanchez too whoo looked very good against Ajagba and Kuzmin). I won't underestimate him again.
Same thing with Kabayel vs Sanchez, I couldn’t believe Kabayel was the betting underdog, made a nice little of change on that fight
This is the same Ajagba whose best win is Cojanu... As in, the same Ajagba who's never even beaten a gatekeeper? Not sure how much that proves.... As for Kuzmin... No idea what you're talking about - Sanchez hasn't fought him... You might be thinking of Hunter or Bakole? Even if he had fought him - Kuzmin isn't anything special either, his best win is good old Pricey. This is kinda what I'm getting at with saying people rate fighters highly far too easily, IMHO.
Dubios by KO. He's not as limited as Mahkmudov and he won't be injured like Sanchez was. This would be a very good test and statement from Kabayel if he wins.
I think Kabayel is still very underrated and could build his way up nicely now and do well in the post-usyk era, but Dubois right now would be my pick in a closer fight than people think
