Why not have Dubois fight a heavyweight? Warren is using the old Bob Arum method of having his boxers fight smaller men. I hope it backfires and Lerena wins.
Not someone I've seen much of but he looks decent if not very small for the division and bloated at 233lbs. He has fast hands, puts his shots together nicely, and they look heavier than his low KO% suggests. Dubois should be too big and powerful for him though. Lerena is a good fighter, but Dubois is still a higher level and will knock him out, I don't give Lerena too much of a chance...
Interesting choice of opponent. As basic as Dubois is, Lerena will likely stand right in front of him for much of the fight or go right at him, so it suits Dubois that he won't have to chase an opponent down. But Lerena might make a fight of it, if he can back Dubois up as it's clear Dubois can't fight on the back foot, but that's a big if considering the size and power difference. Much more likely that Dubois simply over powers him and stops him.
DuBois probably wins but Lerena has decent head movement and good handspeed. This could be a good fight. If Dubois comes in flat he might take an L.
Interesting fight, will be worth watching. Dubois was clinical against Bryan. Put an end to his hype train.
Out of top 20@Cruiser 6`1 blown up cruiserweight fighting at heavyweight ? Speechless. Bad fight for Dubois.
I like Lerena, but he's just a bigger George Arias. I think this step up at heavyweight comes too fast. He'd needed 1-2 fights more. Nevertheless i hope Lerena win's a decision (he can't KO Dubois), but its gonna be super hard!
Either Dubois catches him or Lerena schools the shiets out of him. Wouldn't be surprise with Lerena win.
Lerena turned pro at 19 years old weighing about 215, he is big for a traditional heavyweight, just not for the giants of today. He is also a southpaw, quick handed, and as mentioned he has good head movement. If he is really 6-1, he weighs about 230 which makes him about the size of Tommy Morrison so he isn't small, he has just been fighting huge fighters and looks small by comparison. Dubois is fighting a tough southpaw opponent and should be given credit for taking the fight. From just watching the video above, Lerena does seem to stand in front of his opponent a lot and from just watching the small amount of video available, he "admires" his work after throwing punches and doesn't use angles. Of course neither opponent (Dinu and Wach) in the videos above was able to take advantage of Lerena's lack of movement and maybe Lerena moved more earlier in the fight when the opponents were more dangerous? Regardless, Lerena looks like a good fighter.
Honestly, Lerena might be too much for him, his hands are fast, his defense is solid, and he's excellent at applying intelligent pressure. By no means am I trying to denigrate one of Joe Joyce's best wins. But merely pointing out that Lerena has an iron chin and is CW level tough as nails, and to my knowledge.... has never been down. So I think there's a chance Dubois won't be able to get him out of there, and if Lerena is still around in the 8th through 12th round, and also a southpaw, that Dubois doesn't have a hell of a lot of experience with, anything can happen.
