Jenkins is flicking jabs up into the chest, but Garton is moving side to side and gaining in confidence, picking off jabs on his left forearm, baiting Jenkins and then cracking him below his ear with the right hand. Jenkins having trouble getting in and scoring without consequence now, Garton having scouted him out the past few rounds. Garton seems ready to pick up the spade and dig out from this points hole. Garton responding as the crowd wills him on, stalking without ever marching all the way inside, more of a zigzag cut in front of Jenkins, tagging him with exploratory shots with both hands, even as Jenkins reaches in and lands his own right hand.

Round 5

Jenkins is falling prey to Garton's right hand no matter what his altitude or velocity circling on the outside - but only intermittently. Garton finding him upright as well as in the crouch, turning and sizing him up to send line drive one-twos homing in - but taking ages to set himself, take aim, ultimately firing after quite some interval (during which Jenkins is painting his torso and face with jabs, and dropping in a few rights on the belt line for good measure). Jenkins is working the jab overtime, but not stepping all the way in to commit with any pressure born down on his left foot, just leaning partway in and tickling Garton's waist. Jenkins tries jabbing up high as he tries pinning Garton onto the ropes but is picked off with some downward parries.

Round 6

Jenkins is jabbing straight into the navel after squatting momentarily in front of Garton. Jenkins wary of the inside (as Garton is notorious for head clashes and both causing and suffering cuts in his fights). Jenkins riding the carousel, always clockwise, just barely skimming away from some of Garton's lunging right crosses to his temple. Garton throwing hard, taking quickened steps inside with each 1-2, but unable to quite trap Jenkins.

Round 7

Jenkins is countering very nicely with the jab and never letting Garton fully square up to him. Garton taking some nice open shots, but nothing with absolutely flush contact as Jenkins is too slippery. Garton's timing and execution are well and fine, but his attack is a fairly predictable one, varied little, and Jenkins is just that bit faster, and scoring jabs high and low as he keeps circling round.

Round 8

Jenkins is connecting on jabs & hooks, keeping Garton spinning like a weathervane, occasionally looping in a right hand (and scuffing the jaw of Garton with a full-on accidental elbow at one point, unseen by the ref, or at least not commented upon). Garton is piling on the pressure but just can't make any headway, foot speed deficit being much apparent, especially the longer this draws on..
