Maybe that's due to the poor quality of opponent. There's no doubt who will win the fight imo.

Ranee was due to fight Ricardo Arrieta from Argentina, but he injured his hand in his last sparring session and with limited options, the Grange decided to pass on him fighting on this show.

Im interested and will definately be watching. Everyone likes Geale and wishes him well unlike the Perth Parasite and the Redfern Roach so there's less bickering.

Anyone else from the forum going to be there on the night? Does Marcus still lurk around here? I'm sure he'll be there.

Tough African Eromosele Albert shapes up for Daniel Geale

by Nick Walshaw - The Daily Telegraph - August 29th 2011

    This content is protected

EVEN as a barefoot Nigerian boy, the smart money followed him.

Waved in the air by shady, grown men who - forming a makeshift ring of shouting, spitting, cursing bodies would bet their weekly paycheque on the boy in borrowed gloves.

    Eromosele Albert was 10.

"But it was good," recalls the veteran middleweight, now 37 and fighting out of the United States. "When I won, those who backed me would share a little of the winnings. I used it to pay my school fees."

And when he lost? "It was a very tough neighbourhood," he deadpans. "So I'd run."

Which is all you really need to know about the fighter dubbed "Bad Boy". This gritty Nigerian slugger who works security, loves his children and has travelled thousands of kilometres for the IBF world championship belt owned by Australia's own Daniel Geale.

And, okay, so Albert no longer has the smart money following him. Not this time anyway.

No professional fighter wins a world title only to go risking it all in their first handpicked defence - and neither has Geale. Which is why the tough Sydneysider will start in the red with bookies come Wednesday night at the Derwent Entertainment Centre, Hobart. Why our man Albert will be out around five bucks.

But in Albert, you certainly have a fighter. An African warrior who admits to having never owned a set of gloves back home in Nigeria. Nor a pair of boots for the ring.

But what Albert did have was fast hands, strong chin and a father who, having made a little money himself from the fight game, also went on to make professionals of his three boys.

In 1996, Albert went to the Atlanta Olympics. In 2000, Sydney. The Nigerian making it all the way to the semi-finals before drawing with the eventual silver medallist, only to be knocked out on countback.

"And after that I decided my opportunity was in America," he told The Daily Telegraph last night, having arrived in Hobart to finalise preparations for his world title bout. "In Africa, you fight for money, food, everything. You fight to get your family out."

    And so he did.

 Albert is no tomato can. Geale is a rightful favorite but this isn't exactly an unconscionable mismatch.

What block of time is this all shaded out for? (ie what is the PPV and main event start time supposed to be?)

Earlier than Tarver-Green or the same?

Everyone has made weight. Geale and Albert both pumped and look in tip top shape as you'd expect. With Mostyn Niemann now, he gives a shout out to the esb crew. Says he's looking forward to not giving away weight. Haven't seen Marcus yet, no doubt he's lurking somewhere.
