I agree. This card has 2 very even and competitive fights. The original card was basically showcase fights for Stevenson and Kirkland. Nice doubleheader here for HBO.

HBO has had a pretty weak year so far and April is garbage(ppvs don't count) but they have a really strong 3 week stretch coming up in May.

have to give geale some credit though
if he didn't want the golovkin fight (which he has talked up in the past, and he seems like a pretty straight shooter) and potentially a Martinez fight, then he wouldn't have booked a plane to the states after beating sturm

now that geale has lost the two belts he won in Germany, fighting macklin on HBO shows intent once again
he has no belts, so HBO coverage is just what he needs

    I like this fight a-plenty

A prime Macklin would shatter Geale's glass jaw but seeing Macklin is coming off a beat down from Golovkin this makes it a 50/50 fight.

Good fight. Makes a lot of sense to see what Geale can do against Macklin before putting him as a relative unknown here against Golovkin.

Good fight, really don't care for macklin but would tip him to pull of the upset here.

Agree, it is an ESPN level fight.

A healthy Pirog is the only man @160 who I would think about picking to win vs Golovkin. Even then, it's a huge maybe.

Well, there's always David Lemieux vs Fernando Guerrero on Showtime the same night. Will that satisfy your MW fight needs?

I know which one I'll be watching.
