Still a few weeks out from this but very much looking forward to it. Out of the two i think the pressure is more on Geale than Barker. This is his first fight in the states, his big break on HBO, Barker has the advantage of been in AC twice, fighting Martinez and working Lee Purdy's corner so he should feel more comfortable during fight week. Listening to Geale in some interviews he seems to be rilled up big time by the notion that Barker's camp think he is the weakest titleist at 160lbs . Geale going to be hugely motivated on Auguest 17th. As for the fight, it will be a chess match type i think. Barker will be surprised at how hard it is to pin Geale down, has excellent footork going back the way although offensively he can be a bit sloppy and straight on. Barker may land more eye catching shots but Geale's workrate and superior fitness and stamina down the stretch could prove the difference. Prediction Geale SD. Thoughts ?

Geale is the weakest titleist in his division for sure. Geale is easy to hit, Geales people think Barker hasnt got much power which will be Geales biggest downfall, when Barker does connect Geale is going to be in for a rude suprize. Its been proven time and time again that accuracy defeats work rate, unless Geale can land then its going to be Barker all night long. This is not Mundine, its not some German ripe for the picking, its Darren Barker, prob the best opposition Geale has faced in quite a while, only negative thing ive got to say about Barker is he had a 14 month layoff but given his last two fights since his return to the ring, he looks like a new man.

Geale wins this as Barker underestimates him, Geale is a tough nut to crack. Two decision wins in Germany teach you a lot. Geale will be there at the end and just as strong, it's a 12 round fight and i reckon Geale wins.

The only way Geale finishes someone is in late rds like 11 or 12 when his opponent might exhausted..... **** even Mundine lasted the distance.

Geale has no power to stop opponents

If shaw exerts some influence on the judges then Geale will probably get most of the each way rounds.
I expect a pretty close fight..Barker does fade a little which works in Dan's favour..they are pretty closely matched.
Id be shocked if Geale won this easily let alone stopped him early.

    Expect controversy.

I don't see a stoppage for either man (busted eardrum aside, both are tough cookies and neither has the sort of thump it would require to hurt the other) and given their respective styles it'll be a classic "pick what you like" scenario in terms of scoring. Barker will be more accurate. Geale will certainly hustle more. I don't think many rounds will be super clear either way.

I would love you to be right but if this ends early it will be Barker getting the stoppage not Geale. Maybe a late TKO to Geale but I think Geales movemeent, angles, workrate and volume punching will get him a UD 8-4 ROUNDS.

I'll need to see how the panel of judges looks.

For instance, if they bring in frequent Atlantic City worker Lynne Carter, I know from her past scoring history that she usually produces very sound cards that emphasize accuracy over work-rate...
