I was assuming Geale would cynically hold the belt hostage in Australia. Is Pirog a mandatory or something?
Nope neither man is a mandatory, I think it's a genuine case of both fighters wanting Martinez, so being a unified champion might help their case.
:happy Style wise that should be very interesting. I'd go with Trout on points, he is fairly talented, this will be his biggest test so far.
Pirog is the WBO champ and Geale is IBF. Good unification fight, winner fights Martinez (I sound like Rob )
:deal I agree. It's a very good fight for both men. I'd also favour Trout. But I'm not too sure on Drinzuruk as I've only seen him battered by Martinez
Why is it happening in August Vano? Bit strange, i can imagine both men will make a defence of there title in the meantime.
I guess in this age of fighters farcially avoiding each other it takes me by surprise when they don't. I suppose a crack at Martinez might be worth a little risk.
Geale/Pirog & Trout/Dzin? What's the bet at least one of these fights falls apart? Apologies for my pessimism but I'm struggling to envisage this going through.
Pirog is scheduled to fight in May against a TBA according to Boxrec. I'd expect Geale to fight in the meantime as well. It's probably down to a promotional standpoint. Pirog can't draw flies to **** it would seem, and I'm not sure many outside of Oz are massive Geale fans
It wouldn't be a surprise to me either. But both of the middles want a crack at Sergio, and fighting each other would help the winner's standards skyrocket, and the public would demand a fight with Martinez (who would gain two more belts).
I think Martinez/Geale would be an easier fight to make than Martinez/Pirog, that ones never looked like coming off. Just too little communication between their promoters, and Dibella clearly doesn't think much of Pirog from a revenue standpoint. Geale would just be too easy for Sergio though.
Thank ****. Finally some serious moves by two (of many) questionable 'titlists'. Hopefully start sorting the wheat from the chaff now.
