Daniel Jacobs - a worthy contender or not ?

Jacobs said the reason he is not more popular is due to racism. I wonder if he is using that perceived oppression status to cultivate an internal motivation factor. The cancer survivor card is played out so something new has to be interjected into his special interest narrative.

If he defeats GGG the boxing universe will be at his feet. Actually getting in the ring with GGG seems like the most direct path to achieving the status he feels entitled.

 

Did he really blame racism on his low popularity?

 

ya i saw the article on the scene, came across as a bit deluded.

he isnt a real world champion, he's big step up and hes only time fighting for a belt ended in him getting knocked spark out

he is now receiving handy pay days fighting bums, how does he expect to be more popular?

 

I saw the one on scene where Jacobs said they called out 3G months ago. What a crock from his team!!

he is coming off as a bit of an idiot. a while ago he said he will fight ggg in 18 months to 2 years, then ggg signed to fight brook and the next day jacobs calls him out on twitter. He then received unholy amounts of abuse on twitter for it, even he's own fans were saying he looks like an idiot

he is now in a tough situation , he either has to deal with ggg or else it goes to purse bids, if it goes to purse bids id say he will get 500,000 for the fight which he won't accept. if he vacates the title, ggg will more than likely fight saunders and will have all the belts, at this stage ggg calls all the shots if you want a fight with him you will have to accept what is offered or else you will never be able to be a world champion

 

He said, its hard for black fighters to get a big following.
The point being that Puerto Ricans, Mexicans etc all follow their fighters vervently, and black fighters dont get that as much.
He said Canelo can side step a fight with GGG and he can still pack out a crowd in Texas, but he(Jacobs) cant fill out the Braclays center
The actual interview doesnt come across as racist per se, just how some fighters can get big followings due to their support base.
With that said, Wilder packs them in, in Alabama, and Crawford packs them in, in Nebraska, so it doesnt really hold up.

 

well said, in fact if anyone is at a disadvantage its the fighters from eastern europe and asia who have to fight in the usa due to there being no pro scene in their country and having literally no nationalistic fan base in the usa

 

That's a topic of race, not necessarily racism. But he's correct to an extent. Wilder packing them in helps that he's local to that area, and a heavyweight. Big HW's tend to attract a crowd of interest.

 

You NEVER hear E.E.'s complaining about anything, least of all using their inherent ethnic/cultural impediments as an ethnographic cruth to draw attention or put themselves in some faux role playing an artificial victim.

 

Jacobs is better than anyone that Golovkin has fought.
