That's a tough one two big middles with good jabs Taylor was good enough to beat Hopkins twice and fight Wright on equal footing and was seconds away from beating froch Jacobs wiped out quillin, fought on pretty even terms with golovkin, beat derevchenko, and fought a good fight vs canelo in the second half Both have been KO'd neither are huge punchers but are not feather fisted Jacobs goes southpaw and has a better gas tank I'm having a tough time on this one, it is tough to erase the multiple knockout losses on Taylor's record I lean toward Jacobs but without much certainty
Id to go with Jacobs in most scenarios. Perhaps as prospects pre title/ early title Taylor was a bit more seasoned and polished. He could get Danny there maybe, especially in a ten rounder. But later on Danny showed more to his game and trained smarter to come into the ring huge but retain sharpness. Tay tay did one thing well but tended to fade and struggled when that one thing was negated. Jacobs would have to bring it though. He couldnt risk an outside fencing match with a bloke like Taylor, who could possibly get a big enough lead to hold on.
Say what you want about Jermain Taylor, but the guy ALWAYS fought with heart. He'd never mail it in the way Jacobs did in the Canelo fight. I dunno if Taylor would have beaten Canelo, but he would have certainly come to win. I'd pick Taylor over front runnin ass Jacobs.
