You can smell the robbery from here. I have no clue why Jacobs gets the protection he does. There are a ton of guys like him that languish their whole careers, but he's done a tour of payday fights and gotten the "benefit of the doubt" from judges more than almost anyone in boxing. What does he bring to the table for a promoter that the next guy doesn't? Ryder is the opposite and even in the UK I can see him getting screwed over. It's a shame this has to be the discussion because this is kind of a nice matchup, 60-40 for Ryder ignoring the judges.
If it's the Jacobs that fought Rosado, he's gonna lose. Hell, if it's the Jacobs from the last 4 years he might. He hasn't really looked "great" in years.
Jacobs is inactive, 35 and kind of a rudderless ship. If Ryder comes prepared and focused I can see him winning. I can also see a decision with scores all over the place.
I took all this into account although I had Jacobs edging SD and beating Sulecki. I was going to pick Ryder but I just have a feeling Jacobs might get up for this fight as it seemed strange to me that he would agree to fight a guy like Ryder in the UK who is not a big name but also is not an easy fight for anybody he must be confident of winning otherwise why would he do such a odd thing like fighting a guy like Ryder in the UK. I think Jacobs fights to his best when he is counted out like in the GGG and Peter Qullin fights. So I am picking Jacobs by decision.
To me Jacobs has been on the downward side of his career the past few years. Ryder, on the other hand, has gradyally improved, most noteably in beating Smith. I favor Ryder in a close one.
Wouldn't surprise me if this fight ends up being so boring nobody cares what the scorecards are at the final bell
