Who wins? And where do you think the loser goes from here? I'm a fan of both, so I'm sitting on the fence for this one. Kind of want Ryder to get another shot at a title though due to him being robbed against Smith which I talk about in my blog. This content is protected
Why Jacobs is favourite ? Strange. I was going to bet on Ryder, but when I saw that odds, I felt that someone is playing the game
John Ryder is coming off of beating Callum Smith and not getting credit for it. Daniel Jacobs is coming off of looking terrible against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, and actually losing rounds to him. Jacobs is shot, and stylistically, Ryder would give a healthy version of Danny all that he could handle. Ryder by KO8.
I respectfully disagree. Ryder is overrated by British fans in particular. In two performances after the Smith loss, Ryder looked poor too, especially against Mike Guy.
I'm not a British fan, and I'm not overrating him. In fact, I'm the only guy on the site to pick him to beat Callum Smith. The only thing I was wrong about was the stoppage. But Callum was on the verge of it for the last 3 or 4 rounds. As far as the last two performances. He came in last minute for both, they weren't matches he had great camps for, merely stay busy fights, and that's exactly how they turned out. I mean... is he supposed to invest all this time and effort an put on a peak performance for guys like Mike Guy and Jozef Jurko? Of course not. So no one should expect him to look amazing. Guy has been stopped once by Derevyanchenko, he went the distance with heavy handed guys like Jesse Hart and Ali Akhmedov, he's a pain in the ass spoiler, he fights to survive, not win. No one looks great against him. As far as Jurko goes, he's primarily fought at 175 and 200 pounds. The only time he's been stopped was at Cruiserweight, and he's the naturally much bigger guy. John walked him down, beat his ass and busted his face. So his tiny little Middleweight frame walked down and manhandled a Cruiserweight. So in some ways, that performance was more impressive that you might think.
Danny won’t be active enough in the fight so Ryder should win this.. Danny’s not shot either of you look at his 10 fights besides Quillin he fights very passive..
Daniel Jacobs & John Ryder's actual records. And yes, I've seen all of these matches, and even though I scored them as losses or wins, which was contrary to the official scorecards. Even if you disagree, the matches still came down to maybe a point. Losses in Red, Wins in Green. Asterisks next to potential draws. Ryder's resume isn't all that bad after all now is it? And Danny's isn't quite as impressive. I picked Jacobs to win this one, though he is starting to get up there in years. I wouldn't take him in his next fight though.
Losing to Rosado was not a good look for Jacobs. A great technical boxer but sort of inconsistent. Crazy how he was able to keep Canelo at bay.
