Matt Korobov should fight Jacobs. Korobav said he wanted to fight Jacobs, Andrade, Lemieux but no one wants to fight him. I believe he wasted his career one punch by Andy Lee ruined his career. I know he is old, but he was out boxing Lee, not only time Lee did this. I heard top rank dropped him because Zurdo didnt want to fight him.
Korobov blew the one shot he's had at the big time against Lee and because of the risk/reward ratio no one wants to fight him. Shame........
None related issue but Quillin was a stupid square head idiot for not taking that money and fighting Korobov because of Haymon's beef with Beyonce'. Your family is gonna starve because your "adviser" has old music beef? Might as well had of been advised by Suge Knight.
I'd like that fight. I spoke to Matvey a little while ago and he said how difficult it is to get fights now. As you say, the risk\reward is really against him. Really wasted in terms of talent
Id like to see him get another shot or at least a significant crossroads fight given his story. I think he might be one of those fighters whose peak was even before he turned pro. And he was brought along to slow to capitalise on it. I mean this cat was a two time am world champ with 300 plus fights and it was 5 years and over 20 pro bouts before he took on a ranked opponent. Was his.debut or maybe his 3 or 4th fight they aired on a pretty big T.V card? Maybe even a PPV.
Since you're all bummed out that the fight will probably never happen, let me offer you a little bit of consolation. Here's Matvey Korobov savagely dropping and then stopping Jacobs in the amateurs. Enjoy! Its every bit as vicious and satisfying as pro match, for a change. This content is protected
I think shaky whiskers is very harsh. Lee is a very big puncher and caught him right on the button. He managed to stay on his feet the whole time
Can't remember exactly cause it was some years ago. I don't know if it was on the Uzcategui or the Edwards fight, but he was wobbled badly a couple times. He had the skills but fought in such a careful way that made me think his chin was not going to hold in some point. Can't remember exactly, just talking about fights that I saw 4 or 5 years ago. Not glass, but it's not solid. Or there are mental issues, I don't know.
Thanks for the video, I didnt know Korobav beat Jacobs in the amateurs. It just sucks thats some fighters get a ton of chances and some only get 1. Top rank wanted to put Korabov against Zurdo Ramirez and Zurdo turned down the fight even though he is a 160lb fighter. That is when he was realeased.
I don't recall that happening to be honest but that certainly doesn't mean it didn't. If it was Uzcategui then I guess that isn't so bad as he can certainly bang. You're right though, his style was a bit too cautious at times. Certainly won't help him secure fights in current times
He beat a pretty crazy list of names in the AM's to be fair. I think @Serge is usually good for that sort of info
saunders said korobov got to stiff during the pros, and was a great mover and slick as himself in the ams.
