Yes, I do agree that Jacobs is probably being overrated on the basis of one excellent performance. I think that Skoglund is also overhyped, based on a good night against Smith while Smith had a relatively poor performance. Yes, he's iron chinned but he's also considerably less skilled than Jacobs and quite featherfisted. I wouldn't pick him to outbox Jacobs and I wouldn't pick him to KO Jacobs either. I wouldn't pick him against peak Groves but as Eubank Jr said, this Groves is far worse than the younger version. I expect some "Groves is shot" threads after Saturday week, he isn't shot, but he isn't as good as he used to be. As I see it Jacobs is faster, only a little smaller, probably punches a bit harder too, and both are about as fragile as each other. Yeah that wouldn't surprise me.
I'll check it out later, and no you're not missing anything, he's said he doesn't know much about Lee or Eubank, so if he doesn't know anything about them, certainly he doesn't know **** about O'Sullivan, Ryder, Blackwell, Blandamura, Akavov and their worth as fighters. He's coming across as a massive casual as far as Middleweight is concerned. The majority of the people who are now hyping MW, are doing so because Charlo, Andrade and Canelo moved up, nothing more, if it were still just GGG and Saunders, they'd still be beating the hell out of it. Here's the reality, the most belligerent GGG bashers didn't know a hell of a lot, and still don't about the majority of the fighters in the division, because they're all either US or UK HBO/Showtime/Sky centric, and don't know about anyone that aren't regularly featured on those channels, Cruiserweight has been hot for a few years now, and finally US and UK audiences are catching on to what many of us have known for quite some time, same applies with MW, its been a fairly stacked division for awhile, especially when compared to the wastelands like SMW and LMW, and now they're only just realizing it.
i see where your coming from but ggg an canelo are fighting currently at 160. floyd and ggg were never in same weight class. so a bit of a difference if u ask me.
Should be a good fight, Sulecki is a pretty solid fighter with several nice wins on his record. He is largely under the radar so this fight won’t get a lot of buzz around it. It’s an odd fight for Jacobs because there’s more risk than reward in facing Sulecki. It’s a better fight than the mentioned O’Sullivan fight, though it would be nice to see O’Sullivan land a big fight after pulling a minor upset over Douglas. After this fight Jacobs needs to land a major opponent. If not the Alvarez-Golovkin winner there’s plenty of other middleweights available-Charlo, Saunders, Andrade, Derevyanchenko, etc.
