Daniel Jacobs vs Pirog

I would expect something like this to go to purse bid with a 50/50 split though. WBO tells two guys they will fight for the title. What if Pirog refused the split? Would he have been eliminated? Did Jacobs have some 'favored' status that allowed him to demand more? I understand the economics, but this was a mandated fight. Hell, the typical challenger gets a better mandated purse split than this. 4 to 1? I'm just trying to understand how this happened in THIS circumstance.

 

Typically for a mandated fight its 65/35 for the champion unless either fighter has marquee value. I suppose in this situation it was because GBP is the promoter, it was at Jacobs turf, Jacobs was the higher ranked fighter going into the fight and that if the fight were to happen at Pirog's hometown it would be for less money for both fighters.

 

I went to the ESPN website and didn't see anything about the split so I'm not going to assume this is even true.
