Round 1

Román jabs the body. Matsumoto is reacting to jabs and feint-twitches up top. Matsumoto dashing backward and pawing out his own long left jab. Román is jumping in with lead left hooks on the belly and scoring, shoving Matsumoto across the ring with their brute force. Matsumoto is attempting to circle in the center of the ring at mid-range and jab with Román but getting drilled off position, Román's jab too hard. Matsumoto fakes a jab and cuffs Román atop the head with an overhand right, then misses a follow-up left hook. Román lands a body-to-head combo inside, jarring Matsumoto. Long jabs unfurled by Matsumoto while circling wide. Román picks them off. 1-2 by Matsumoto before collapsing atop Román in a clinch. Bobbing and weaving in, Román scratches at the chest of Matsumoto with a couple of jabs. They exchange and Matsumoto grabs him in a wristlock before the bell.
