Felt like Roman slowed just a touch in round 6, still won the round but maybe feeling the pace and body shots

    Round 6

Román hooking off the jab and tagging Matsumoto with a soaring right hand. Román staying in the pocket doing body work. Román is right there, pitched forward, an open target, getting clapped on the hip with Matsumoto's long paddling hook. Matsumoto is leaning to his left to spank Román and then straightening up and pivoting away behind a smokescreen jab. Román momentarily stymied by the new tactic. Matsumoto able to keep luring Román into his web and pump jabs and crosses into his face, scoring effectively on the backfoot and then quickly tying up before Román can explode with his own turn offensively. Román pointing his face at the canvas and slinging overhands while pushing up close against Matsumoto, not landing very cleanly as Matsumoto hooks lightly into the side of the head.

    10-9 Román, very close

    60-54 Román

    Round 7

Román is missing a fair number of punches and getting frozen in place by the Matsumoto right hand, which he now shoots with growing confidence behind the flutter of jabs in multiples, especially when there's more than a couple of paces separating them...and there increasingly are. Román tiring. Punching as though underwater. Occasionally there will be an explosive combo, but Román only able to sustain it for a few seconds and Matsumoto has gotten pretty good at covering up and rolling with them, waiting his turn and then pumping out the jab while turning Román like a spit and bopping him between the eyes with the right hand to stunt his telegraphed pounces. Just before the bell, a lot of sound & fury coming from Román but almost none of it lands.

    10-9 Matsumoto

    69-64 Román
