Akhmadaliev is flawed and hittable, but I think his high output, fairly heavy hands, southpaw stance and decent footwork are going to give Roman a ton of problems, I can see him grinding Danny down and scoring the late stoppage.
Akhmadaliev has such a fun style and it will mix well with Roman. No matter what happens, it will be a fun fun fight. Boy does Akhmadaliev love to brawl.
Think this may have only been won in principle and a deal reached will be reached with Matchroom who co promote both guys. Can’t see a purse of $109k and $36k being enough considering both guys got $200k and $27k in their last fights. My understanding is Matchroom wanted to make this fight the co-main in the Estrada undercard on August 24th but World of boxing were not keen on fighting in Mexico. They won the bid as an insurance policy and will work a deal with Matchroom to put the fight on a card in September.
I was wondering that. Seemed a bit odd. Smart move by World of Boxing. "Either you propose a deal we like, or you will fight according to our terms." But it still boggles my mind how Akhmadaliev got that title shot. He never beat a top 10 contender not anyone in the WBA's top 10. All it took was 2 fights/payments for the World Boxing Association Inter-Continental Super Bantamweight Title??? Some shady ass **** going on here.
I know but to be honest nothing surprises me with any of these orgs. All i would be guessing is the WBA are hedging their bets and hoping he becomes another Loma. Based on his amateur pedigree I’m guessing that’s the case.
I wonder if they're going to job Roman on the cards. I think Roman may drop him a few times though. That defense is so leaky, why does he think he's Sergio Martinez lol
Have you ever actually seen Akhmadaliev? Why do you push these transparent petty stupid ****ing agendas of yours against fighters that no one knows? And do you really think Roman isn't the A-side here?
Yeah he fights with his his hands to his knees & pays for it sometimes. I know Roman's the champ but Roman isn't with a bigtime manager. I think Mkahmadeliv has Uzbekistan aristocrats behind him, this guy paid for a title shot it seems. Hope I'm wrong
Man, that style feels good. If you ever worked on the bag or even the mitts, it feels nice. Really comfortable as you have more control over your balance and you can relax your arms more. And it allows for some sneaky shots which are a nice little ego boost. No idea what the Florida judges are like. But since it´s for the WBA and IBF titles, I expect they will be binging in their own judges. Doubtful that either guy will get screwed over by corruption, more likely due to incompetence. Controversial scorecards always make people cry corruption! But it´s clearly incompetence in the majority of cases. What does it even take to become a judge? Referee a few amateur bouts? What are the standards? How often do they get re-educated on the sport? A great example of incompetence is when Teddy Atlas on FNF had to correct the officials on what is a SD and what is a MD. Another would be that boxing judges are appointed to MMA fights. The **** do they know about the ground game? Or even kicking? Did they take a course(of course not)?
'Former amateur standout Murodjon Akhmadaliev will make a bold attempt to unseat IBF and WBA junior featherweight titleholder Daniel Roman at the Meridian at Island Gardens, Miami, Florida on Thursday. Akhmadaliev had been due to face Roman last September before a shoulder injury curtailed the unified titleholder. The 25-year-old Uzbekistan-born fighter, who is the WBA mandatory challenger, took a stay-busy fight (TKO Wilner Soto) but now gets his chance on a pre-Superbowl card. “It’s a big honor and a great opportunity for me to prove that I’m the best fighter in the 122-pound division,” Akhmadaliev (7-0, 6 knockouts) told The Ring through Alik Frolov. “I think that Roman is the most proven champion and he is a unified champion – this motivates me a lot. “I think Roman is good all around; very composed, good power, good chin, experienced and a true warrior. But in the ring I will implement my game plan. We have something that we are working on with [my trainers] Joel and Antonio [Diaz].” Akhmadaliev, who was the subject of a New Faces feature earlier in his career, believes that his amateur pedigree, which yielded silver at the 2015 World Championships and Olympic bronze at Rio 2016, will be key to his success. “We wanted to fight [Roman] in the previous fight, but they made a unification fight with [TJ] Doheny and we didn’t object,” Akhmadaliev said. “I only have seven pro fights and Danny has around 30, but I have had over 350 amateur bouts and numerous WSB fights, around 100 of them against the very best fighters in the world. I doubt that Roman has more than 50 amateur bouts. I love fighting, that’s the only thing I did all my life, inside and outside the ring.” In September 2017, Roman defeated WBA “regular” titleholder Shun Kubo in Japan. During his reign, he was upgraded to full titleholder and posted wins over Ryo Matsumoto, Moises Flores and Gavin McDonnell to set up the Doheny unification bout last April. Roman dropped the IBF titleholder twice en route to a 12-round majority decision win in one of the best fights of 2019. Vadim Kornilov, Akhmadaliev’s manager, has worked with Dmitry Bivol, Ruslan Provodnikov and Viktor Postol, among others. He has also been instrumental in bringing several top Eastern European fighters to America, where they’re being fast tracked toward world title opportunities. “We are very excited because these guys coming from Uzbekistan and Russia are all exceptionally talented fighters,” said Kornilov. “By working with our team, which has developed and grown due to very motivated and professional people like the Diaz brothers and our partners, I believe most of these guys are world champions in the making.” Joel Diaz is high on Akhmadaliev’s talents and feels this fight will go some way to proving what he feels is obvious. “I know that there is no one at 122 pounds as good as M.J.” said the venerable trainer. “I’m pretty sure that M.J. will beat all the champions at 122 and move up. I’ve known Roman for a long time and he’s a very good fighter, a unified champion, but I know what M.J. is capable of. “Roman has never fought anyone with the style and power of Murodjon. On the other hand, Murodjon has seen all different styles. Roman is good all around, style-wise he’s not a brawler or a boxer, always mid-range – a very basic fighter. Murodjon will win by KO before eight rounds.”
