Guillermo Daniel Sandoval Navarro is a 6'1 23 year old Light Middleweight with a 37-3 34 KO's 1 KO loss record. Born and fighting out of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Il Galeno isn't close to the best boxer in the world, but he's got enough skill to back up his aggression with a good jab and one twos and he never usually smothers his own work, while granted he has a loss against Omar Chavez in a debatable decision, IMO Sandoval did enough to edge that match, however he is a vicious KO artist who's pretty much KO'd everyone but 3 of the fighters he beaten. He's KO'd Jorge Silva who was able to stand up to 10 rounds with Perro Angulo and has a win over Kamegai, and he also knocked out Ramon Alvarez, Canelo's older brother in 2 rounds. Unfortunately he has 3 losses but he's only been KO'd once and that was in his first year as a pro when he was only 17 years old, which if you're logical probably shouldn't be held against him. His points losses could also be looked at as learning experiences, hopefully its taught him to sharpen up his skills because he's not going to win every match by KO. So if you like watching big Mexican guys knock people out The Doctor Is In The House, Now take your Medicine. :toney:toney:toney:toney

I missed the start of the 3rd seeing it live and missed the first KD, so I thought we had a British stoppage on our hands. But now I have seen it again it's clear why it got stopped :!:

You have to possess some power to dispose of Brewer that way, who we know is much better as his record suggests. He's a gatekeeper/top level journeyman type fighter, who's main function is to expose pretenders and give prospects and low level contenders hard fights.
I'm impressed, but I still saw some holes in Danny's game, wich might be his undoing.

Yeah, the fact that Brewer kept on getting rattled even by partially blocked or blunted (ie on the shoulder) punches in those messy and sometimes flagrantly dirty (grabbing, throwing, elbowing) exchanges speaks to serious natural pop, even if Sandoval doesn't always (read: usually doesn't) optimize that pop by harnessing it with smooth technique.

Last televised boxer I can remember sporting that look was Ebo Elder, whom we were just discussing yesterday on the Lakva Sim thread. Small world!

I watched the Brewer before I did the thread and it gave me more inspiration(I missed it live as well) that was a pretty impressive performance, and actually there's some partial footage of the Chavez match and he looked like he was giving Omar quite a beating in the clips I saw, but it was just clips so it may not paint the whole picture of the match..... Thanks about the title:yep

He did go after Trout. :conf

(two years before they fought, Trout had dominated Rigo Alvarez capturing his first world title)

Sandoval would need to put in quite a bit of work to even pop up on Canelo's radar, though. (even for a tuneup).

His best shot would be punching his way up through some of the weaker names in the backend of the WBC's top 40 and get himself inside 15-20 (from which he is currently absent, in every org).

Then he could put himself in a position where beating him would help bump Canelo himself up a spot to ensure that if/when Mayweather vacates his 154lb belt he'll be in the mix for a vacant title shot.

He should fight Melendez then Maciel or Nelson as stepping stone matches or possible stumbling stones they'd make for somewhat interesting matchups.

Sandoval vs. Melendez would just be a hot mess. Wild bombs splashing everywhere like a spastic fat kid in a bathtub.
