Super bantamweight ,two first matches 12 rounds with the third being 15. I heard you guys liked that bloody match of Duran vs Napoles, good news that I've got another bloodbath that would make St valentine's massacre look in awe.
They should fight on three consecutive Thanksgivings. Wilfredo carves him up like a turkey each time.
Only fun in a slaughter sense. Zaragoza got his ass kicked from pillar to post by Happy Lora. What TF do you think Gomez does to him?
Like every other fight Zaragoza was in-----never supposed to be the guy with his arm raised at the end. He was a road warrior. Paper thin skin that swelled and cut. Threw wide telegraphed punches. Slow handspeed for the divisions he was in. Telegraphed his intentions. But somehow the guy would win some of these battles. Great gastank. Would fight anyone anywhere. I missed gambling on this guy's fights more than any other fighter in my life. The checkmarks were always on the other side. Always. To the degree the bouts looked like a mismatch going in. But seldom turned out that way with Danny Z. Gomez would be another opponent with almost every checkmark in his favor. Maybe Danny gets the conditioning nod. But that's it. That is an awful lot of advantages to be giving a guy like Bazooka Gomez going into a fight.
Hmm,I think another factor other than Zaragoza's balls that could make him win those impossible fights were his IQ based from past experiences.
In fights contested at SBW their respective records are: Gomez: 33-0-1, including 18-0 in world title fights, all 18 by stoppage. Key wins - ATG BW 52-0 Carlos Zarate, Lupe Pintor, Long Kyun-Yum, Leonardo Cruz, Kazuo Royal Kobayashi, Alberto Davila, Juna Mesa, Nicky Perez, Jose Cervantes and Robert Rubaldino Zaragoza: 25-5-4, including 13-3-4 in world title fights. Key wins - Hector Acero-Sanchez, Kiuoshi Hatanaka, Paul Banke (who Zaragoza went 2-1 with), Wayne McCulloch SD, Joichiro Tatsuyoshi x 2, Valerio Nati and a shot Carlos Zarate. Losses around prime years - Jeff Fenech, Paul Banke (avenged, 2-1), Thierry Jacob and Tracy Patterson (0-1-1). Zaragoza has a very deep resume and tremendous longevity, but I doubt he could handle a phenom like Gomez at his SBW best. Peak for peak, Gomez by stoppage is my pick.
Zaragoza was a star that burned 2-3x longer but never shone as brightly. This should just be a simple matter of class IMO.
No contest really. Despite Zaragoza's longevity Gomez would easily beat him. Gomez was far superior in every department and would beat Zaragoza to a pulp.
