    Ten past the hour!

Coverage apparently starts earlier than I'd realized or had been previously advertised (1pm EST/7pm local time in Milan) with a bonus prelim on "Before the Bell" from 12:10pm EST, per a tweet from the official DAZN account:

I've seen a few sites referring to Patera vs. Boschiero as the main event, but that official tweet in the OP from an hour ago would seem to settle the matter with Scardina vs. Doberstein clearly atop the bill.

    Round 1

Mati snapping a strong jab, changing altitudes with it to keep Baranov reacting. The black Ukrainian journeyman, whom the commentators make a point of noting is both tough and heavy-handed despite his losing record (7-10-2), is keeping his gloves at home, tightly bunched together and raising or lowering depending on where Mati's focus moves. Good hand speed and punch variety being shown by the undefeated "Albanian Bear", circling at mid-long range and mixing in fast lead uppercuts or chopping rights behind the stiff and sudden jabs. Barely any counter offense from Baranov, although he flurries just before the bell with some overhands as Mati seemed to be winding himself down and stepping away following the warning ten second clap.

    10-9 Mati

    Round 2

Mati facing a little sterner opposition now as Baranov blocks some jabs backing up and then hits the brakes and toes a line in the sand and protects it with his own hard jabs and chopping rights, stepping around Mati or ducking & straightening in place to keep himself from giving an easy target. Mati digging in some nice left hooks downstairs and spearing a longer, faster, counter jab past Baranov's, now on the backfoot himself but fighting effectively.

    10-9 Mati

    20-18 Mati

British commentators were right; Baranov is a good deal better than his record would indicate.

Coming back to me now; I've seen him fight but not for a few years now, since which he got TKO1ed a couple of times (by Uzbek southpaw Fazliddin Hasanboyevich Goibnazarov and former Belarusian amateur standout Yauheni Dauhaliavets...so no great shame on paper, but haven't seen and can not comment upon the circumstances of how fair the stoppages were).

Genereally speaking he's a real dose of prospect truth serum, alright.

Clean sweep at the halfway point for Mati, 40-36, but having to post a high workrate of combos to hang onto his lead by offsetting Baranov's spurts of work. Baranov riding the ropes and covering up, using lots of feints and leans, fighting cleverly enough to survive and position himself to surprise Mati with ambush counters here and there.

Mati's hand speed, power, and volume punching are positive traits but he is thus far unable to solve the strategic puzzle of how to lay sustained leather flush on Baranov.

Couple of thousand people lurking the forum at present (nearly two hundred registered members, the rest 'guests' who may include people that just have accounts but haven't logged in yet) and everybody has bigger fish to fry than live boxing on a Friday afternoon? :dunno

I even gave you lazy dicks the YouTube link, all you have to do is click and it will play right there in the post as embedded, don't even need a separate browser tab.

Get in, losers, we're judging showcases. :sisi1

    50-45 Mati

Baranov hasn't done quite as much as he'd need to earn a share, but has made this idiot eat his words (and his financial loss).

What a bold declarative statement from somebody that clearly DKSA their Ukrainian journeymen like the commentators and I do. (Chris Lloyd & Darren Barker, btw)

    Wonder if he posts here.

Baranov hurt with body punches in the 6th & 7th but hanging in there. Mati showing lots of wrinkles here, and though his stoppage ratio is going to likely dip (currently 7 from 10, could have jumped to 80% but will fall to 60% unless he finds something big in the last few minutes) he still could shape up to be a decent KO artist, IMO.

Just had a look at his amateur credentials - holds a victory over Vergil Ortíz Jr.! (and had close defeats to both Teófimo Andrés López and Ryan García, the former by SD)

Bit of showboating and jaw-jacking between the fighters in round eight, getting the crowd fired up although not many punches are being thrown. (but spitefully when they are)

They bury the hatchet and give a sporting embrace after the final bell, however.

    80-72 Mati
