Yeah, defensively this performance has been nothing to write home about. His switching between orthodox and southpaw did seem to keep Esposito confused and kept open numerous lanes of attack for Cavallucci.

As smart and smartly executed a strategy as can be said of someone that spends ten rounds blocking punches with their face.

...the onscreen graphic from DAZN says "MD", but that has to be an error. Diamante announced it as unanimous with the scores all read together.

 

My guess is they gave Cavallucci the 1st and 2nd and then had Esposito sweeping the next eight...which isn't altogether bananas, IMO, as he never put that same kind of authoritative stamp on any of the later tilt-a-whirl rounds, and often saw his moments of success overshadowed by single well-placed blasts from the champ.

(although I do agree he probably deserved a share in that eight-round stretch...with particularly strong work in the 6th and 7th as Esposito appeared to be tiring)

Francesco Patera vs. Devis Boschiero, 10 rounds @ lightweight

 

I tried quicky holding my cell phone up near my laptop's speaker because it has that built-in app that will sometimes auto-detect what's playing, but, no dice.

 

Both have sturdy whiskers and neither is a monster hitter, so if this doesn't go ten it means someone is shot (or in Boschiero's case, suffering after-effects of COVID-19), or somebody got a cut.

 

Round 1

Boschiero is grinding up against Patera, bracing off with his bent forearms pressed against his opponent's and busting up his shoulders and the sides of his neck and head with a barrage of unbroken hooks flapping in from both sides. Patera trapped on the ropes and biding his time, stepping out and lobbing body shots under Boschiero's elbows where he can and then covering up himself.
