What's funny is now days at least in my area.. everyone tries to fight like Roy Jones.. Why do people pick the fastest person to try to imitate when they do not posses the same speed that allows them to do it..

Wasn't he trained by Dundee at one point?

A pretty broad example though. That is like saying Wladimir Klitschko fought like Ricardo Lopez, cause they have a good jab and prefer long range.

From what I can gather is that he tried to employ Ali's "style", but did a *******ized version. Dannell obviously didn't have the chin.

His movement was mostly a facsimile of Ali's, but not properly executed. His timing and reflexes were horrible.

His straight punches were nothing like Ali. Good in his own right, but nothing like Ali.

His core body strength was nothing like Ali's so holding behind the head wasn't as efficient for him, yet he tried it anyways. Granted Tua is a strong man to be trying to hold.

At best he was like a 4th rate Ali if you had to force the comparison, at most Dannell was like a poor tribute fighter.

Manny Steward trained him. He tried his hardest to motivate him during the Golota fight, yelling at the top of his lungs, but it did no good.

Here's an evalution of future heavyweights in 1996:

NOT LIKELY TO HIT IT BIG * John Ruiz (25-2, 17 KOs): ``Doesn't have the strength to contend with real heavyweights,'' Dundee said of Ruiz, 24, from Methuen, Mass. ``He's a cruiserweight in a heavyweight's body.''
