What I don't get is that for some it's cherry picking easy fights that you know you have no chance at losing.. In this case it's a guy you like so his opponent is ducking.. Floyd cherry picked Berto, but Broner is ducking Pac...

 

They aren't big stars. 60/40 only makes sense for another big pay per view guy. On average Pac makes 20 mil a fight and they make 1 mil. They are not on the same level. Just because there is 25 mil on the table does not mean it needs to be split evenly. 20 to 4 is a fair split since Pac is drawing more than five times the audience. If they were big stars like Mayweather or Canelo, then of course you give them an even split. That's because Mayweather and Canelo can make ten million dollars fighting someone else. But for Broner or Garcia 4 million is as much as they could make in 2-4 fights fighting other opponents. When May would fight opponents like Guerrero, Ortiz, or Maidana their purses were always 3-4 million tops. That's just the going rate. I'm guessing that when Cotto, Mosley, and Canelo fought him they got more because they were bigger draws with a history of bigger purses.

I don't think people are realistic about fighter's purses. There are half a dozen guys who make more than a million dollars a fight. May and Pac, Tyson and Holyfield, Leonard, Ali, and Louis are aberrations. 4 million is a very good purse for anyone but them. Most fighters have second jobs they can't quit. Algieri was living with his mom before he got the Pacquiao fight and made 1.7 million dollars. To put this in context Bradley and Marquez would get 4-5 million dollars when they would fight Pac.

I think the point is that Pac doesn't need them to make a pay per view but they need him to make 4 million dollars. May didn't and neither does Canelo. They are a class of pay per view fighter who's opponents don't really matter. May made 32 million fighting Berto and Ortiz. Pac made 20 million fighting Rios and Algieri.

 

The difference is that Golovkin already made 5 million fighting Brook. Double your best purse sounds fair. Golovkin should take the 10 million dollar offer. Danny Garcia's best purse was 1.5 million dollars because he's not the kind of draw that Golovkin is. 3-4 million to fight Pac is fair for him.
