Anyone find it to be too excessive? I just rewatched Garcia vs Khan, and Garcia already had about 4 low blows on Khan by the end of round 3. Maybe the first one could have been caused by getting his head pulled down but most boxers try not to throw punches when that happens. They just break cleanly. In his other low blows, he was aiming lower than necessary on purpose. He was clearly losing in the early rounds by Khan and seemed to want to slow him down any way possible. I won't even get into the Matthysse fight but Danny Garcia came out of that night with the nickname "nutcrcker". I have nothing against Danny but I guess you can't really get away from the low class philly lifestyle, huh? I'm sure his father taught him to use that trick whenever he's in trouble.
Even though I'm a huge fan of Garcia and picked him to win this fight, there's no denying the low blows were excessive and intentional sometimes. Guess when there's a dumb referee allowing this to happen countless times there's no reason for him to not take advantage of it when his career/record is on the line. It's very similar with Holyfield's headbutts, he was allowed to use them at will whenever he wanted to so he kept using them.
he did the same to khan too, obviously he knocked khan out, but i did notice him fouling with low blows a few times
With a lot of respect...i think non of you have ever sparr or box in their lifes. Its really difficult to control were you are hitting sombody thats pushing your head down when you are going to the body. It always will happend.....you now the difference from a real low blow from one non intentional
so in other words danny garcia is not at fault? guess the one point docked against lucas was unfair too...
At one point the referee says to Garcia 'I understand, I understand', as if Matthyse was doing something wrong, what was it?
I don't believe every punch was intentional, however, there were a few questionable ones. Anytime, you push a boxers head down that low, you can certainly expect to get punched in the nuts. Thats part of the sport...
What kind of bull**** argument is that? Weeks did a **** poor job, he gave Garcia a final warning in the first 4-5 rounds and he still continued to go low. Garcia grabbed & held all night & took this to the extreme in the last 3 rounds. The knockdown was caused by garcia pulling Matthysse's head down and dragging him into the ropes before throwing a volley of punches when Matthysse was tangled in the ropes. Garcia got away with it because Weeks messed up, if Weeks did his job then Garcia wouldnt have won the fight, but thats not Garcia's fault.. weeks is to blame for ruining what would have been a great fight.
8 rabbit punches from matthysse!!! and he was always puching the head down....oh so many double standards....que mucho maricon hay aqui!!
Not all of his low blows came after being pushed down. If I didn't box in my life I wouldn't comment as often as I do on a boxing forum.
