Great programme, much better than Khan's episode in my opinion, I've always thought Garcia was a good fighter but I thought him and his dad were pricks after the press conference but they both came across very well tonight, real people, also their not shouting their mouth off about future opponents like Khan is, they're firmly grounded in the present. I also sense a lot more character in Garcia than he shows when being interviewed, anyone thinking Khan is gonna roll right through him isn't talking sense, Garcia is gonna shock a lot of people with his toughness and grit I think in this fight. Can't wait!
But didn't you think his pad work and sparring was atrocious compared to Amir? Agree about their characters though. His father came across as a right duck at the start of the film but by the end of it you couldn't help but like him.
I thought Khan looked awful in his sparring session, he was getting tagged b big shots and just going back in straight lines and his defenses were wide open, I also didn't see any inside game improvements. Garcia's was a different style of sparring, where Khan was just an all out fight Garcia's sparring was tactical with the guy he was sparring with mimicing Khan to improve on technique and tactics for Garcia in the fight, not just brains in the changing room and having a scrap.
Dude, sparring is to practice different aspects of your game. Comparing one sparring session to another is stupid. That sparring session meant absolutely nothing. Everyone has tactical sessions, wars and so on. Even Garcia mentioned yesterday how he's had tons of gym wars. It's normal, and nothing new, if you've been to a boxing gym, of course.
When r people gonna learn you shouldn't read anything into a sparring session. The mindset of sparring with 14oz gloves & headguard puts you in your comfort zone knowing u wont be hurt. It's completely different to fighting with 10oz gloves, no head guard & knowing ur career could be on the line if u lose.
Khan probs done well over 100 rounds of sparring in these 2 camps, anyone seen all of the sparring?? No Yeah Angel and Garcia both are cool people, they are from poor background hope Garcia is getting a good purse for this fight.
Powerful but slow. His sparring was average. I'm not sure if he has the feet and timing to handle Khan but he is tough and that could change everything.
Not forgetting all the different types of sparing against various styles different intensities. From what I saw, I though Garcia looked very slow and tagable. Kahn was ether just working out hard or making the same old mistakes he's been making for a while. Nothing new that couldn't see by looking at previous fights. Ether way it was more like like both fighters in these filmed sparing sessions where showing exactly what they wanted to show the opponents to see. You certainly don't let these guys film anything new or important relating to the fight.
ye consideirng his ild man is training him he probably wont take as much as usual, but i heard in vegas the commision cuts the cheques there and then.
lol, before I saw the video I was visualizing lightening fast combos in Danny's sparring sessions.. Just finished watching it and if those fighters were suppose to mimick Khan then they did a very poor job.. I saw was a slow Garcia with very minimal foot movement, standing his ground and throwing punches.. not saying Khan's sparring was out of the world.. but Garcia's was very average in Behind the Ropes.. It's going to be a great fight!
