    No need to talk about the cut which was caused by a calculated 2 inch punch or redundant topics like "Who would have won had the cut not occurred or who would have won if a different ref was officiating the fight?" :patsch

    The question is, who won? Many believe it was Garcia, many others also believe it was Matthysse.

    It's an extremely divided topic, let's settle it once and for all.

    Who won on September 14th, 2013?

    Danny Garcia won that close fight clearly,,...The knockdown pretty much sealed his victory..... I would watch them fight again

    Danny won. I think the reffing went in his favor but I've seen far worse, was allowed to clinch a lot.

    Why ask? Everyone has always agreed that Danny "Gift" Garcia won that particular fight, even if it was a lucky (or was it?) elbow that blinded Matty in one eye.

    He got his ass whopped by Herrera though.

    No one is talking about the Herrera fight, no need to bring it up here. Danny won it though by a small margin.

    We're talking about the Lucas Matthysse fight

    No it was not an elbow, it was a calculated two inch punch on the inside, so stop being a baby. :hi:

    Why bring up Matty fight for the 10^1000th time then? The official outcome was not controversial.

    I had Lucas winning the first time I watched the fight. Upon rewatching the fight, and scoring it, I had Lucas winning again comfortably. This was clearly a case of a Showtime house fighter getting a gift decision against a foreign fighter.

    As for the many ESBers who scored it for Danny, I am guessing they were biased US fans giving too much emphasis to Lucas's eye injury, and fans who don't know what they're watching in general.

    Huh?

    I was rooting for and looking for Lucas to win.

    Most the people I was watching it with thought I was being biased for giving Matthysse 5 rounds. He collapsed down the stretch and hardly won a round after the 6th.

    Lucas lost a couple rounds when he was hampered by the eye injury, and then recovered enough to start winning rounds again. He was outboxing Danny for most of the fight.

    Just the 5% that do "think" he won are very, very, very vocal.

    Matthysse fanboys always have been among the most annoying on this forum.
