Stay in the pocket! Feint, Lead straight, duck under the automated hook counter. Rinse - Repeat! Ez work.
Feints and head movement yes, but im not sure about staying in the pocket. It might work when he's tired later on but if you sit there early he will wear you down.
If it were so easy, a veteran slickster of the sport with acclaimed speed, power, and athleticism fighting in his home town would have been able to do it.
No. He wont. He doesnt punch hard going backwards. Nd at close range his punches are too wide/looping. Zab was able to eat them in close. You give him room to whin up it night niight. Peterson is the perfect guy for the job. Lucas might get koed in a shoot out.
It was practically the same thing he'd been trying to do the whole fight and Garcia was giving him a real beating in the mid-rounds. Judah's style is to feint and throw the 1-2 before circling out and repeating. You're coming off as a desperate Judah fan who knows he's wrong and is trying to mitigate the shame. Give both men props and move on. Judah showed some of Garcia's weaknesses, but that was hardly a blueprint.
To be fair i think of sitting in the pocket as being different to what peterson does. I wouldnt say Peterson is a pocket fighter but maybe thats just me. Also Garcias biggest ko shots have come off guys sitting in range. I think good lateral footmovement on the outside is going to confuse the sh*t out of Garcia to be honest. He does an ok job of closing the ring but not great. Add to that feints and decent head movement to offset Garcia's counters and i think he could be in trouble. Luckily there arent many guys at 140 who could pull that kind of game plan. Having said all that though Matthysse beats him because he is better than him imo. Quicker thinking, quicker moving, equal chin and, according to Judah, a harder puncher.
Yet, ultimatley it didn't last night because Judah lost and he employed a similar tactic. If it were that simple, or if this blueprint was that effective, we'd be celebrating Judah's victory today. Whilst he highlighted weaknesses that Garcia has, I would hardly suggest we now have some definitive blueprint of how to negate everything Garcia can offer.
I guess you'd have to be a lightning fast southpaw with power to pull it off. Wonder how many of those are left out there.
